Discovered your fic via lilithilien, and I've gotta tell you I'm fuckin' blown away. This story is just so raw and detailed, filled with such quiet desperation. Stark layered over rich: blood, sand, and sweat. You capture each character perfectly, their interactions and relationships. I liked how you acknowledge Connor's discomfort with having a father after so many years without one, and how there is a doubt, a fear, to his relationship with his brother.
I love how you use the desert, such a gorgeously alien enviroment, and it becomes alive with your words: Sometimes he can see the Rockies, a jagged ribbon of dark blue on the horizon. Other times the thermals would rise from the ground. Waves of heat would ripple the air and blur the mountains until it looked one with the sky.

Sheer poetry.
