merlin doesn't even move me that much! i mean, he's alright, and in real life i would totes chill with merlin over arthur, but in not-real-life i just get so distracted by the pendragon family drama. my favorite moment from the last episode is when arthur and the guards corner morgana and mordred and then THE CONFLICT WRIT ALL OVER ARTHUR'S BEING when he realizes that it's her and his whole mental journey that ends with his his sort of strangled "restrain her" command. ARTHUR. AND THEN. IN THE NEXT SCENE when uther and morgana are having their lover's tiff, arthur is all STARING AT THE FLOOR ashamed of what he should be proud of (his father, his honor, his duty), and when he exits he POINTEDLY AVOIDS looking at morgana. AND

i am THIS CLOSE to accepting it as canon that arthur knows merlin is magical but is just playing dumb, 'cos i mean, merlin is an utter failboat at being subtle and arthur's not THAT dumb.
