Hmm, it's almost like along the way he just has to abandon being Bradley James altogether. He has to forget. Maybe he doesn't do this on purpose, but he can't help abandoning it 'cos he's so busy being Arthur? Like he has no time to be Bradley anymore? Or maybe it doesn't matter whether he's Arthur or Bradley as long as he runs the kingdom properly.
I don't know if he ever goes back and that is the honest truth. I didn't think that far ahead. That's kind of one of the reasons why I ended it where I did, heh. 'Cos, after this, whether he goes back or stays, I feel like it's tragedy either way. If he goes back eventually (I'm thinking maybe like years later), he leaves Merlin behind, he leaves behind the land he ruled and the knights who died for him and the destiny with which he has reconciled, etc. But if Bradley stays forever... well, we all know what happened to Camelot eventually. But also, I feel like if I wrote about Bradley staying forever in Camelot, it would at some point stop being about Bradley and start becoming about Prince Bradley, and I might as well be writing about Arthur. You know what I mean?
