ext_49278: (Merlin: big smile)

You know, I was actually contemplating Camelot Prank War fic the other day. I need to make a list of practical jokes they could all play on each other, because even if I don't write that fic, 1. the pranks can turn up in other stories, and 2. making the list will entertain me immensely.

...Is it wrong that I am starting to ship Arthur/Bradley and Merlin/Colin now? Next time I read Merlin/Arthur fic, I am going to be thinking, NO, Merlin, what about your destined love with Colin?! Arthur, why are you cheating on Bradley? I know he's annoying, but you love him really!

WHAT DOES HE HAVE IN MIND?

They start off with small things. Arthur orders Merlin to the armoury to do some polishing, where Bradley-as-Arthur orders Merlin back up to Arthur's room to catch a rat he pretends to have seen. Arthur tries impersonating Bradley to Colin, but this works less well. Arthur informs Bradley that there is nothing to be proud of in a talent for mendacity -- Arthur's poor performance is in fact proof of his virtue. Bradley makes a comment about exactly how much virtue Arthur has left, and they fall to other activities, of a kind which Arthur subsequently informs Bradley have never happened, and shall never happen again.

"I'm disturbed that I'm starting to find your denialism charming," says Bradley.

"That's not a real word," says Arthur. "And you find me awe-inspiring and magnificent. Not charming."

"It must be because of that arse. My arse." Bradley pinches the arse of disputed ownership. Arthur does not squeak.

They move on to wearing the same clothes, and Bradley doing his imitations of Arthur when they're in the same room together. Arthur is somewhat appalled by how easily Merlin and Colin are fooled by him. Surely Arthur is not quite that-- he's not really like that.

When he asks Merlin about this, Merlin just pats him on the hand and says he's sure Arthur is very unique, really. At which point Arthur realises that 'Merlin' is in fact Colin, and storms off out of the castle to stab something.

At some point, they discover that 'Colin' has started to teach Merlin his accent. For -- strange to say -- sanity's sake, Arthur and Bradley decide that the simplest thing to do, from now on, is to call both of them 'Merlin' and to trust neither, ever again.

Only, they both of them keep forgetting this when the MerlCol composite things Arthur's manservant and his doppelganger have become behave more like their separate selves -- a cunning, cunning trick to manipulate Arthur and Bradley's feelings.

"I do think you take this a bit seriously," Bradley says, when Arthur voices this thought-- "Though," Bradley goes on, "if you do want to get serious..."
