haha oh no, i'm not sure how sure i am, 'cos i've been drabbling around in the comments with some ppl in the comments in this 'verse (i'm such a whore for commentfic), though i'm not sure if it will coalesce into something substantial anytime soon. probz not.
I think if I were gonna have Bradley do a 'surprise return from Narnia and nothing has changed' thing, I'd probably have him quit the show as soon as he could. He's under contract, sure, but maybe he doesn't sign on for another season or he gets a lawyer to get him out of it. Then maybe he goes backpacking, or gets some low-key shitty job, just to recede into anonymity for a while and reacclimate or something, I dunno. A situation where he doesn't have to think about being Arthur, doesn't have to think about being Bradley -- he can just BE. He hasn't just BEEN in ages.
Don't you wish you could go back and do things differently? Well, yes, but not like this. This second chance is a gift that Bradley never asked for.
Also, before he quit, while he's still working on the show, Bradley becomes distanced from Colin. Well, not too much, but Colin knows something's changed, but he doesn't know what and he doesn't know why. Ever since that one day. Well, the weirdness got better with time, they're hanging out more often again now, but it's not the same.
"It's like he's more distracted," he says to Angel.
Angel, who is better at these sorts of things says, "No, he's more focused. Just not on the same things."
He catches Bradley looking at him occasionally in a way that makes him curious and vaguely uncomfortable. One time Colin actually does ask, "What are you looking at?"
Bradley replies, "Nothing. Just thinking."
"Don't hurt your brain now."
And Bradley smiles, but there is also something about that smile, Colin can't put his finger on what. Like maybe Bradley is holding something back. But whatever, everyone can have secrets. Colin doesn't pry and Bradley doesn't tell.
