Is this the last season? I could totally see the writers going "fuck it, we're tired. FANFICTION!" Although lol you're probably on to something wrt being interested in the same tropes, especially on a show like SPN which has some very obvious archetype to begin with. Ahaha well crack is totally appropriate for the CW so as long as you're all happy!
