Oh no, whoops I didn't mean the Wincest was the fail, sorry. I meant that I wasn't surprised that SPN's treatment of other gods was faily. Although, wow, did not anticipate just how faily it was. Way to go, show. (Speaking of godly things, did you ever read American Gods by Neil Gaiman? I'd be curious to get your read on that; I enjoyed it, but I wasn't reading it very critically.)
The Wincest comment was going back to your earlier comment about that specific scene in S4 where they're talking about slash. Sorry for being unclear :)
LOL Merlin fandom is so segregated now that there actually isn't enough interaction for there to be a proper ship war. It's kind of sad, but given the alternative, I don't know that it's necessarily a bad thing. People just bitch in the privacy of their own journals now.
One thing I have never understood is how people don't understand that part of the entire point of fiction is to explore things. Therefore, like, me writing Merlin/Arthur doesn't automatically mean that I am suddenly converted to being a die-hard M/A shipper and hope that they get together in the show and fuck Gwen! I would totally write an A/M fic if I could get a better handle on their dynamic and had a story in mind. Some of my favorite Merlin stories are A/M! I feel like there are peeps who would judge me as a bad A/G fan for that. Yeah, you're right, it's all about battle lines etc etc.
