The decision to have the story go backwards came when I was halfway done. I wasn't sure how to end it because I didn't want the ending to be gloomy. I think the backwards version might be sadder in other aspects though. I do <3 Will. It's kind of sadface that fandom has cast him as the assmonkey. I just want more of Merlin and Will BFFing all over the countryside. (I use the term BFF loosely.) I start pondering AUs where one might get to write a more prominent Will. (What have you done to me, William?!)
