Ya! 'Cos it's like, sometimes all you can do is remember the good times. Like, it's okay for things to end. But they were awesome once, is the thing.
HAHAHA one possibility is that I contrive to bring him to Camelot. I mean, the last time a guy from Ealdor saved the prince's life, he got a good (though I guess not easy) job out of it, right? There is precedent! And then Will/Morgana would happen ("That's just typical of royals," he'd say, and Morgana would just raise her eyebrow) in a way very similar to Merlin/Arthur. OMG EXCEPT MORGANA IS THE MAGIC ONE. And maybe Gwen and Will would be friends in that she has to reign him in when he's being too insensitive, 'cos Gwen is good at doing things like that (e.g. telling Arthur off about the porridge) and she can be the awesomest big sister. Maybe Gaius takes a shine to him, and Will outwardly gives him shit but secretly likes it, because of father issues. And he and Arthur can have unexpected bromantic moments. I mean, it's practically inevitable, it's the law, right? If it's the first time you meet someone and you don't get along at all, then you are probably gonna end up grudgingly respecting each other and outwardly denying your feelings of affection.
LIKE MAYBE. Maybe Merlin is finally sick of traipsing around after Arthur when he's hunting, so convinces him to take Will instead. Will is still critical Arthur, but he does like hunting, and together they make kind of a weirdly good team. Arthur realizes, unexpectedly, that he is enjoying himself. Oh, but we'll probably have to throw in a couple of arguments about the difference between being noble and arrogant in there or whatever, so Will can finally see that, for some weird reason, Arthur actually believes in what he's saying. These royals. They're crazy.
Probably Will still tries to get Merlin to do all his chores by magic, just like back in Ealdor. "I might as well have never left," Merlin sighs. And Will's like, "Yeah, I was enjoying my peace and quiet before you lot showed up."
OH OH OH. And during his first days at Camelot, Will tells embarrassing childhood stories about Merlin, much to the delight of everyone except Merlin.
