This, is storytelling. This is one of the most intensely well-crafted Narnia fics I've read, I think. Actually, it's probably the most intensely well-crafted one. There's just so much brilliance here, and the references and borrowed bits of story are so exquisitely used. (And selfishly, I glee'd at Edmund and the Subtle Knife if only because I'm in a roleplaying game in which Will Parry is played by Skandar Keynes. XD) But oh my goodness, the use of culture here is so incredible. A lot of Pevensies-in-Calormen fics I've read have been very negative towards Calormene culture, so it's extremely refreshing to read that land fleshed out in such a neutral, but enchanting way.
God. This is just so infinitely fantastic, there's so much I want to talk about! These are my Pevensies. Wow. And the hints of Pevencest and Edmund/Jadis are the subtlest, most effective little visions here and there. And the dialogue and the diction, oh man this is seriously a work of art in its own right. The wind and the magic and the effortless description. I mean, holy crap, you wordsmith.
Wow. Just... wow. So powerful. This fic isn't going to leave me anytime soon. Thanks so much for spending the necessary time to write this. ♥
