The series is totally coming back for a second season, and fandom threw a party when Anthony Head confirmed it. I have no idea when though. I think the summer? Which would be good, because then I can watch it without procrastinating anything (much).
I was rewatching a couple of episodes of Merlin and, maybe it's fandom eating my brain again, but the "magic=gay" metaphor could not be more obvious to me. Not even just as a "squee, it's slash!" thing, but also as social commentary. 'Cos in ep8, Morgana is like, "What if magic isn't something you choose to do? What if it's something you're born with?" And Hunith sent Merlin off to the big city because she's worried that if he's outed in small-town Ealdor, ppl might hate-crime on him. And other stuff.
