Haha, Simmons is from a throwaway line in Merlin 1x10 about Merlin's magic nearly getting them in trouble with an 'old man Simmons' when they were a kid. Since then, he's kind of grown in my head to become the old man that Merlin and Will pestered all the time in their youth.
