lol, well Wincest did have 3 seasons to build itself, but Dean/Cas so far is going on like a season and a half? XD Give us time! One of the reasons I have kinda been ambivalent about Wincest is that when I read a good Wincest fic and I poke around their LJ to find more, I often see Cas hate :( and that makes me sad. It's almost like the fandom is divvied in two: in one corner you got Dean/Cas, the other you got Wincest (subgenre J2), and never the twain shall meet? WHY CAN'T WE BE FRIENDS, GUYS?? IS THERE NOT ENOUGH DEAN TO GO AROUND? My take is that Sam and Cas unlock different parts of Dean, so like, I don't think they would even tread on each other's toes that much?
Come to think of it, are there Wincest fics where Castiel also features? Are there fics that have BOTH Dean/Cas and Wincest?
