Because everything that Cas longs to say to Anna, he can say to Dean, or Dean says to him. FSJFKLDJFKL:DJ:SJFDS fffffff
She was his superior, also, and I think it took a while for Cas to take Anael's ribbing seriously. They're both the type to question, it seems. The difference seems to be that Anael embraces the cynicism and questioning, but Cas didn't like it overmuch because it's scary and might mean he gets disowned by the fam. It's a long road to independence, isn't it, Cas.
I think it's Cas/Anna/Dean at first, but then it blurs, then the Dean&Cas ship finds legs to stand on. "I did all of it for you," Cas may have said, and maybe so, but there is also a part of it that is equating Dean with a second chance, with what he couldn't be for Anael, with his own guilt.
