Iiiiiinteresting. Yeah I think the doubt and disobedience has been brewing in Cas for a long time, but it's when Dean comes up that he's been catalyzed into making practical decisions about it. The emotional investment in Dean comes after that though, not before. At first, Cas helps Dean just because he thinks it's the conscionable thing to do.
