It's times like these I resort to the OED!

Filipino, n. and a.
[Sp., f. (las Islas) Filipinas the Philippine islands.]

A. n. A native or inhabitant of the Philippine islands, especially one of Spanish or mixed blood. B. adj. Of or pertaining to Filipinos or the Philippine islands.

And I don't find any entry for "Philippines" in the OED, but I do find one for "philippine" which directs you back to "Filipino" - looks like a direct anglicisation of the spanish adjective.

Whereas all the OED has for "pinoy" is that it's a Tagalog term.
