Scully, Sam, and Dean - oh, I would watch that show so hard. Scully and Amelia would've bonded, I think.

Honestly, I can't tell. I think the characters are really wonderful, but the plot helps them to be even more wonderful. Maybe if you focus more on the apocalypse part than the zombies part, that might help? The zombies may be ubiquitous, but it's also really heartbreaking how they deal with the zombies.
