THIS WEEK'S EPISODE OF SPN WAS SUPERAWESOME AND FEEL FREE TO TALK ABOUT IT TO ME IN COMMENTS, but this post is about Dean/Mary because ![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
mumblemutter reminded me of my inclinations and I was gonna reblog it with the conversation destronomics had on the subject one time, but I don't know how to do lj-cuts on tumblr so instead of being not lazy and learning how, I'm just gonna post it here, plus further thoughts. I've removed the OMGGGGG and AAAAAAAAHHHH from the transcript for easier reading.
me: i still want the AU where dean is stuck in 1973 indefinitely and then dean/mary/john
Destro: MARY HUNTING DOWN YED
and Dean tagging along because he doesn't want his mom to get killed
me: he's had more than a lifetime's worth of the YED killing his mom
Destro: and John tracking them down because shit is fucked up
and Mary grieving hard because her parents just died HORRIBLY
me: do dean and mary stumble into each other because they neeeeed someone
Destro: she kind of bags a lot of dudes and Dean's her designated driver and it is awkward and they have UST and tension
and sadness
also blowjobs
also, dean knows where he gets his liver, btw, how hard mary drinks, how much of a miserable drunk she can be.
me: mary does some things differently
john was a lot of DIY hunting but mary's got the hunting tradition, yanno
Destro: little iron rods she fits in the doors, window sills

"who taught you how to hunt, honestly, i'm amazed you're still alive"

me: his saving grace is the salt round
mary is impressed. dean beams.
Destro: he shows her how to pack them
her grin is so wide from across the table, watching him work.
me: "we'll make a hunter of you yet, dean"
over beers, does dean tell her memories about his familyyyyyyyy
the songs his mother used to singggg
the tomato rice soup
Destro: oh god
does she give him a hair cut
me: OH GOD
Destro: does he sit on the edge of the bathtub in his jeans and barefeet and a t-shirt, and she tilts his head down to get at his nape, does she cut careful, careful, like her mom taught her on dad one time, because hunters are self sufficient, and cuts down
me: she brushes away the bits of hair that fall on his shoulders
Destro: of course that turns into firmer strokes, and then digging her hands into the knot at his shoulders, just where the muscle meets his neck, and then Dean's tilting his head up and back and letting Mary slot her mouth over his
me: IS IT THE FIRST TIME, HAVE THEY DONE THIS BEFORE, HAVE they done it before but only one of them remembers it, have they been trying to keep this at bay, have they been trying to break through??
Destro: I KIND OF WANT IT TO BE THE FIRST TIME LIKE IT GOES ANYWHERE. but there are a lot of miserable Mary kissing Dean when she's at her worst.
me: fhksjhfdskfds miserable kissing
and dean always between giving in and keeping her away
because everyone that life takes from him always comes back wrong
Destro: hey you prayed for this, right dean?
me: well here you go, your mother back
your mother stroking your hair and kissing your forehead
your mother trying to take the pain away
Destro: /weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep forever
what if they never get farther than fully clothed dry humping
but there's a lot of fully clothed dry humping

me: the negotiations that dean does with himself
this is okay, this is allowable
it isn't really, but it is
it's the best they are willing to settle for
Destro: worst part is dean is mostly sober sometimes, worst part is waking up and Mary's sleeping in the car, worst part is sometimes Dean sees none of his mother in this angry, angry person and that scares him the most

You're right, what happens to John? We never got around to that part. Maybe John got scared off by hunting weirdness and he's trying to move on and be normal somewhere, but he's been sigiled by cupids, right, so he'll find his way back to Mary eventually. And that's when the John/Mary/Dean weirdness starts, because maybe by now this Oedipal affair-ish thing has gotten into Dean's head and they have some kind of dysfunctional give-and-take between them, and John sees it and gets bristly. And Dean steps off because of it's for the best, it's for the best, he shouldn't be making out with his mother, his mother should be making out with his father, but probably at some point Mary's like, "Well, why don't we all just make out together?" and John and Dean are like, "wat" and Dean goes off and gets blind drunk. A few times now, Dean comes back to the motel room and finds it locked, and he hears thumping and moans from inside and he swallows and his heart races and he stands there for a few seconds letting everything sink in, and then he goes off to get blind drunk again. There is another version of this AU where there John never leaves and Dean and Mary show him the hunting ropes. I think that one might be a happier AU, but probably not by much.
And I reckon through all this, Dean is trying to find some way to get back to his own time also, but in the meantime, he will chill here in the 70s trying not to want to kiss his mom and making anachronistic jokes and contemplating how awesome it'd be to see Star Wars in the theater for the first time along with the rest of the world.
I'm sorry I have no scruples when Matt Cohen, Amy Gumenick, and Jensen Ackles are so sexy. :(
