DRABBLE ATTACK

For dinner, I am going to have curry noodles leftover, and brownies, and I'm gonna curl up with some reading, and I'm going to sleep long and hard, 'cos I forgot I volunteered to help run something tomorrow. Uh.

And, because I can, a couple of songs I think you should listen to, with links to YouTube:
Tricky, "Evolution Revolution Love": trip hop, sounds like the revolution seeping into the soles of your feet from the sidewalk cracks
Gabriella Cilmi, "Sweet About Me": reggae-ish, laid-back and mischievous

DID YOU SAY MORE DRABBLES? No you didn't, but have another one anyway. It's spring cleaning 'round these here parts. This one I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] almostinstinct about a month or so ago when she was feeling a bit down, though I kind of suck at writing 'happy'. (Also, where is that Merlin/Narnia crossover, biatch?!)

Brighton
Narnia. Peter/Susan in England, years after PC, escaping to the seaside for a weekend. PGish.

the innkeeper greeted them with a smile and a "good afternoon, mr. and mrs. davies." he showed the young couple to their room, from which they did not emerge until close to sundown. they asked him for restaurant recommendations. which establishment served a particularly good supper?

"don't stay out too late," said the innkeeper, for he was an old enough man to think that everyone should appreciate such advice. "there's unsavory characters about after dark."

"my peter will protect me," says the young woman with a smile. "he always has."

they walked out the door arm in arm, heads bowed towards each other in low conversation, and it warmed the innkeeper's heart to see such unfettered love.

peter and susan awoke before the sun rose, and in the gray haze of almost-morning they made their way to the sea. (back in narnia, susan would wake with the dawn light, would slip onto her balcony in her robe and watch the east with quiet wonder.)

she took off her shoes and dug her toes into the sand. no stockings, he noticed. her shoes in one hand and peter's hand in the other, she led him towards the shoreline and gasped at the coldness of the water on her feet. "oh peter," she breathed, "isn't it beautiful? i wish we lived by the sea."

we did once, he thought, but didn't say it because it would only upset her these days, so he said, "me too," and he said, "come here," and pulled her into his arms. they would return to london in two days' time, but for now they could hold each other. they could wait for the sun to rise.

Oh, Peter and Susan! :( And I love the way the innkeeper sees them, and that there are problems there, under the surface, and SUSAN.
