And what is with this UndeadJournal business?

"Hullo, Lass, what has been the theme of your life lately?"
"Why, Arthurian legend gayed up to the moon and back."

No, no, it wasn't spurred by Merlin flailery, I've always wanted to see it and the run stops next month, so I figure I better put my time in before the crush of work that November always brings. So!

They kept the Scandinavian stuff! They have a FAKE PLAYBILL in the playbill itself of a fake play named "Dik Ok Triaanenen Fol" ("Finns Ain't What They Used To Be"), complete with fake songs ("I Hear Your Nokia But I Can't Come In") and fake cast write-ups ("Swell is best known for his portrayal of Gossi Tweshonen, the unsighted bus driver in FinnTV's hit series "Aaarghh! Villianomeniaanen Schiederrbobrana Ig" ("Watch Out!").")

As I watched the opening number, I got the sinking feeling that this isn't going to be as funny as I hoped. I was right. I mean, it had its moments, but Monty Python and the Holy Grail is pretty fucking hard to live up to, I guess. The show was just a smorgasbord of Python in-jokes (which did make me XD), scantily clad women, and so much fourth wall breakage. I'm not sure how this won the Tony for Best Musical in 2005? Have things just deteriorated since then? Did I go on a bad night? Should I have sat in the orchestra instead of the mezzanine? Do I just have a big stick up my butt?

Also: CLAY AIKEN WTF??!? I had no idea he was involved in this. What a ham. I mean, the hammy acting fit sometimes and is endearing, but sometimes, eh. Well, he wasn't the only one being hammy at least. Lady of the Lake, WTFlol. Patsy is the best, followed by Lancelot. Lancelot's gag is that he is gay. And then... married to Herbert? (Herbert being the effeminate prince person he saves.) Also: Clay Aiken. WHAT. LET'S NOT GO TO CAMELOT, IT IS A SILLY PLACE.

Haha, Jews and the French: acceptable targets? I confess, the French declaring the wooden rabbit art is probably my favorite scene.

A KNIGHT OF NI STARTED CRACKING JOKES ABOUT PALIN AND CHENEY AND THEN TOLD THE AUDIENCE HEY IT IS SEVEN DAYS AWAY WE'VE GOTTA GO FOR IT YOU KNOW. WTF. I THINK IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FUNNY BUT IT WAS JUST AWKWARD. THAT CAN'T HAVE BEEN SANCTIONED BY THE DIRECTOR?

What is with all these awkward pauses in shows these days? 'Spamalot' has them, that Jesse James movie with the really long movie has them, and there are probably others that slip my mind. And like, these awkward pauses are on PURPOSE. Watching The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, I thought, "Oh my god, these are the awkwardest cowboys outlaws EVER." Society, embracing its awkward.

The theater right next door to it is where they're performing 'Equus'. I... I have plans to see that too.

Urban Dictionary defines a 'lassiter' as "someone who is righteous and fights on the side of good, even if it leads to violence or breaking the law." As in, (AND I QUOTE,) "In the film, the Boondock Saints, these two wily lassiters right the wrongs of criminals in a comical and witty way that wins the cheer of the pubic, mostly."

EMPHASES ARE MINE. XD

The following songs are for [livejournal.com profile] bedlamsbard, but also for anyone who is interested. Free music!
Hurricane #1, "The Price That We Pay"
Oasis, "Who Feels Love". Watch the music video here! Doesn't Liam Gallagher walk really weirdly?? LIAM. What a psycho.
Sixpence None the Richer, "The Waiting Room"
REM, "Sweetness Follows". This one you can stream the whole song before you download, 'cos zSHARE lets you do that if it's an mp3. The other songs are m4a, I guess.
The Cave Singers, "Dancing On Our Graves". You can stream this one too, and the music video is pretty ill as well.
This list is about the crossover that ate our brains a.k.a. the one that developed plot, a soapbox, and Last Battle revisionism.

...Speaking of which, so, I made a section in my Memories called 'commentfic'. Whatever.
