ZOMG MERLIN SERIES 2 PRESS RELEASE
Mackenzie Crook guest-stars as the guy who's gonna make Merlin all jealous and possessive when he moves in on Arthur! Hahaha. Oh show, you are like the t.A.T.u. of fantasy television. Wave your hands in the aaaaaiiiiir for Adrian Lester a.k.a. MICKEY MOTHERFUCKING BRICKS. homg. yessss. I dunno about this Sarah Parish lady, but sources elsewhere says her character's gonna trick Uther into marrying her, so it's basically episode 1.6 except maybe Arthur will be less useless. Here's to hoping! My guess is that jealous!Morgana will rear her head all over again.
Dear TV Santa, I want oodles of SIR SANTIAGO and ARTHUR/GWEN pls, kthx! And Morgana's past, and Morgana&Merlin magical duo, and LANCELOT/GWEN and Arthur being all like, "HEY, what are your intentions towards my foster sister's maidservant?" all suspicious and protective, except that role should probably fall to Morgana, and Lancelot has to promise to have Gwen home by ten.
Apparently 'Merlin' Series 1 is gonna be replacing the 'Kings' time-slot on NBC. Haaaaaahahahahahahahahaha.
I rewatched Mary Poppins and am of the opinion that Susan and Mary Poppins should hang out. (
animus_wyrmis, this is your fault.) Maybe Susan is her trainee, or personal assistant, or maybe Mary Poppins just shows up on Susan's doorstep post-TLB because Mary Poppins just shows up wherever she's needed. She measures Susan with her tape measure and Susan measures 'alternately frivolous and stodgy'. "Hmm," frowns Mary Poppins. She compliments Susan on her posture though.
The carpet bag doesn't freak Susan out as much as Susan thinks it could have. She does resist looking inside of it, just in case she sees branches and a wintry landscape, but anyway it's impolite to poke around someone else's things. She leaves it alone, asks no questions. Maybe this time Mary Poppins doesn't sing and take people into pictures drawn on the sidewalk (or disappear into wardrobes), but that's fine, 'cos Susan and Mary just drink tea and talk of sensible things, and sometimes of big things and sometimes of small things, sad things and curious things, and Susan says to Mary oh that is a darling scarf and Mary says thank you. They talk about the fashions of the day for they both like to be well-dressed, and like to take care of their looks.
Mary tricks Susan into self-reconciliation.
'Cos you know who else goes into wonderful magical worlds and dances around with wonderful magical animals, then acts like it never happened? Mary Poppins, that's who. Susan Pevensie and Mary Poppins, otbff of getting over it.
Susan asks Mary if Bert is her, you know, her beau, and Mary says oh don't be silly. But Susan's not stupid.
"Just hold on tightly and don't look down, you'll be just fine," Mary Poppins says, holding her own parasol above her head. Susan grips the handle of her parasol and doesn't tell Mary Poppins she used to ride on the backs of Gryphons. It's poor manners to one-up someone like that.
Then the wind begins the blow.
As much as I love the chimbley-sweep dance scene, all I could think about this time was how they were all probably gonna get the black lung. Speaking of unintentionally horrific things in kids' stories, there's this one Donald Duck comic that ends with several barrels of MERCURY exploding all over the Mexican countryside and all that the characters had to say was "lol it wasnt silver after all!" D-:!
Song of the day: 'So Blue' by Sino Sikat? Filipino R&B and soul.

ALSO. Susan and Mary Poppins, OMG! I loved how Susan is so polite all the time and stuff. And while I have to admit I have never watched Mary Poppins, I've read a kid's version of it a while ago so at least I know the basics. Or maybe I read the original? I dunno.

Rewatching 'Mary Poppins' just makes me want fic, see! Re-watching/reading childhood things just makes me want fic of it aaaalllll. I want Mary/Bert (omg their flirting and obvious history make my heart go pitterpat), but also Mary and Susan having adventures around the world via parasol.

Hahahha, I remember watching Mary Poppins, but I don't think I ever finished the movie. :\
HOWEVER, Susan and Mary flying about on a parasol? YES PLEASE.

OMG YES WRITE IT!
They go to tea with Mary's cousin, or at least that's what Mary Poppins said; Susan doesn't ask questions about other people's relations. "This is Miss Pevensie," Mary Poppins says primly.
"Susan Pevensie, of course!" says Mary Poppin's cousin. "Wardrobes and horns!"
Susan feels her face go tight, and Mary Poppins says, warningly, "George!"
"Begging your pardon," he says, and they have their tea outside, on a checkered picnic blanket. They talk of small things and Susan is left to wonder if there is something written on her face that says she's been touched by magic. She wonders if it's something only Mary Poppins's family can read, or if she could learn to see it too.
"Of course," he says in an undertone as she straightens her hat, "she doesn't need wardrobes."
Dude, I am fascinated by the Bert/Mary romance. It's so cute! And I can't figure out, like, if he's sort of magical too, or if he's just normal. How long have they been together? Who can tell! (I suppose it's possible he's someone else too. In the books the Banks family has this, like, jack-of-all-trades servant guy who does nothing at all but sleep all day and polish things wrong, and you find out later that he's actually the Dirty Rascal and he and Mary have known each other since, I guess, he was hanging out with the King of the Castle.)

flsfjd GEOOOOOORGE. And maybe during the tea party where they're floating near the ceiling, Susan drops something and she has to float back down to get it. And Bert wonders what sad things Susan thinks about to float herself back down, but it's not on to ask. Alternatively, Susan has super reflexes and grabs the thing with the hook of her parasol before it falls.
Susan wonders if Mary Poppins or George or maybe even Bert has gone to Narnia -- such things don't seem impossible anymore -- but anyway she hasn't even mentioned the word 'Narnia' for years and why should she start now? And besides, well, even if they were to talk about Narnia... maybe now just isn't the time.
I TOTALLY SHIP BERT/MARY. I lean towards thinking that he's normal, but just very open to things. And also I get the impression that he's the type to say, "I'm not one to let a little magic get in the way between me and a pretty face!" But he doesn't seriously ask her to stay 'cos he knows Mary Poppins comes and goes, but he's always delighted to have her around?
CRAZIER THEORY: Bert and Mary knew each other IN NARNIA. They are both from inside the wardrobe. They are living in our world as chimbley sweeps and magical nannies because their home world of CHARN was DESTROYED BY JADIS. Or possibly they were part of the group who disappeared into the shadow in TLB because they didn't believe in Aslan? Or possibly Mary Poppins was, um... Jadis's sister? JUST PUTTING IT OUT THERE.

If Mary Poppins went to Narnia she would sniff and tell Tumnus to wear a coat and Aslan to comb his mane. Susan can't decide if this says more about Mary Poppins or about Narnia, but she isn't sure she can see Mary dancing wildly with the Maenads any more than she can see herself doing it, now. (As it happens, Susan is wrong; Mary Poppins has danced wild dances before, although she never admits it in the morning.)
Theory: When Bert and Mary are chilling with the penguins and he goes through all the girls' names, they're the girls he's taken out while waiting for Mary Poppins to get back. Some years it takes her longer than others.
Duuuude! But I dunno, I feel like I would back Mary Poppins against Jadis. Jadis is evil and powerful, but Mary Poppins puts the stars back in the skies.

I had been poking the idea of M.Pop being an upstanding black sheep, but perusing through wikis says that over generations, the Charn dynasty "turned evil" (whatever, Lewis, we'll roll with it, I guess), so, hmm. Man, a Jadis/M.Pop showdown would be AWESOME.
OMG WYRM HAVE YOU SIGNED UP FOR THE EXCHAAAAAANGE aahhhh what do i even waaaaant

Lol, oh, Lewis. Evil is genetic, don't you know!
AAAGH NO I HAVEN'T. I am staring at it going WHAT DO I ASK FOR AAAAAGH. I will probably write a long list and whoever it is can pick.

YES THIS!!! Also lots and lots of Merlin and Gwen being the cutest best friends in the world and Arthur and Merlin squabbling and pining for each other.
Apparently 'Merlin' Series 1 is gonna be replacing the 'Kings' time-slot on NBC. Haaaaaahahahahahahahahaha.
It is the hour of kings! *laughs* I'm going to miss Kings though. That was a cool show.
And dude I cannot even wait for the episodes we've been hearing about. Someone tries to replace Merlin! (Pffft, guest star dude, you think Arthur's going to risk his life to get YOU a flower from a cave? HAHAHA). Someone marries Uther! (Oh man, if we do get jealous!Morgana out of that episode I will be filled with glee). I mostly just want anything and everything season two is willing to give us! I miss that show a lotttt.

I miss Merlin toooooooooooooo. The Merlin replacement character is the Dwight character from British Office, and one of the Pintel&Ragetti duo from POTC. He's gonna be highlaaaaaarious.

Lancelot totally has to join in. FANDOM WILL MAKE HIM. XD
no subject
I totally lol'ed. He's like this seasons Will! If they make any references to false eyes, I might just die. Of amusement or horror over the tastelessness, I am unclear, but still.
Susan! Mary Poppins! Why did I never see that they were bff before? Clearly.

Susan and Mary Poppins will be stern at the world until it stops sulking and cleans its room!

That is possibly the crossover least likely to occur to me, ever. dude. It is kind of weirdly appropriate!
Happy Donald Duck's birthday! :D
also I want to say that I saw that you recced me, and girl youuu make my heart burst with joy. that is all. <33333334

omg you're right HAPPY DONALD DUCK'S BIRTHDAY TO YOU TOO, CARA MIA <3333333 \o/ \o/ \o/

Susan would be a marvelous assisstant for Mary Poppins, fixing other people's families because she never got to fix her own. And Mary can take some time off and do things Susan politely pretends to have no awareness of, and then they fix their hair and put on their smiles and go back to being fairy godmothers.
