Midnight Masses. I heard them for the first time when they opened for ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead. Midnight Masses got the same epic vision as Trail of Dead, but they're not as noise-thrashy and also contain more Abrahamic references. They are amazing live, and most of the recordings of them floating around the internet are crap. THIS SADDENS ME, and is exactly why they should produce an official full-length already.
If we're tossing "Walk On Water" on a fanmix, it would be a reprise of "Carry On Wayward Son", but whereas Kansas tells us that there'll be peace when we are done and that Heaven waits for us, Midnight Masses's reprise is a heavier, clear-eyed acknowledgment of cost and losses. They tell us to carry on, not for our peace, but for love. "Preacher's Son" / "Desperate Man" is about Dean. You should also listen to "There Goes Our Man" on the myspace music player, for the daddy issues. I've transcribed lyrics to "Walk On Water", "Preacher's Son", "Desperate Man", and "Heaven" here.
The following is not Midnight Masses, but is in fact "After Hours" by The Bluetones. HEY KIDS, DO YOU LIKE JOY? Watch this music video:
SECOND AWESOME MUSIC VIDEO: "The Ghost of Stephen Foster" by Squirrel Nut Zippers
Honorable mentions: 'Out of Tune' by Hooverphonic / 'Shegye Shegitu (Blue Nile Mix)' by Dub Colossus / 'Story Of My Life' by Astronautalis feat. P.O.S.

I LOVE that video for After Hours...the little wink at the end! *melts* Music, how awesome you are.
Also, have you listened to Ha Ha Tonka? You might like them; they're all about the south, that strange mixture of long history and deep poverty and lore and religion. Here's one of my favorites, partly because of the cracked-out video:

ISN'T THAT VIDEO JUST THE PRECIOUSEST?? oh gosh. Whoever that kid is, I hope he is doing great things!
I have not previously heard Ha Ha Tonka, but I am liking what I am hearing!
