Ya, and I dunno if the whole Demon Blood when you were a baby and Mommy burning on the ceiling thing would work out for them much anyway. Especially if Anna was the older one.
And haha, I could see them being in the same garrison. They wouldn't be as close as they are in the show, since dude, angels have a BIG family. I mean, maybe Dean just kinda latched on to Sam and was all like "Hey! You're my favorite bro now!" and Sam would be all "*sigh* Fine. Jerk" And Dean would scoff and reply in kind. But ya, the bit with Sam falling to Earth would possibly read better if you did it separately from the Castiel and Anna bit. I mean, obviously we have Dean raising Cas from perdition in the Cas and Anna are hunters bit, but I think too much background from the Sam and Dean side of things might take away from the story. But ya never know, you're a great writer and I could see you making it work.
And yes, maybe if you just focused on the idea and didn't so much write the exact plot it would work LOADS better. And if you went with that then 5x04 would probably NOT happen without that particularly plotline but the idea is so awesome. Because Broken Dean would totally be regular Croatverse Dean. It would be cool if he was like Croatverse Cas, but I think that's probably too close to his original attitude. And Broken!Dean would be opposite of his cheerful little self. Soooo ya.
