Okay, people who haven't joined the party on

sharp_teeth: what the shit, why have you not? The prompts and the fic have been rocking my world. Some of the prompts are almost fics in their own right, so creeptastic. And how the series starts out with her at a very vulnerable point and you get sucked into that, into her stumbling and fumbling, and then you see her accrue victories and it is SO FULFILLING. Oh, and that episode told from jury POV? 1x18? I legit got shivers at the end of that episode. I have never been more disturbed and heartbroken by an hour of television. jfc, that episode made me want to cry and punch something. I LOVE IT. THIS SHOW.

LET'S SEE WHAT ELSE I LOVE. DIANE OF COURSE. DIANE/BALLISTICS GUY LOL THEY ARE ADORABLE. AND OMG THE KIIIIIIDS kids kids kids who lie to the feds to keep their dad out of prison!! This show is good at douchebag villains too. I hate everyone they want me to hate, which is... rare. Maybe because this show takes characterizations of women that are usually attributed to antagonists and makes them protagonistic, which is totally a word btw? I'm thinking of Diane and Kalinda. In an alternate dimension, the heart of this show is Peter trying to find redemption, and Alicia is little more than The Long-Suffering Wife. I'm glad we are not in that dimension.

ANYWAY, MORE ABOUT DOUCHEBAGS. I WAS >:( at Cary and the mother-in-law at first, ugh, how terrible they were, but then Cary became weirdly likable and the mother-in-law squirted a garden hose at that woman lolol.

I don't even like lawyering shows. The courtroom scenes tend to trigger my embarrassment squicks. But this show. But the magic of Kalinda and Alicia and Diane and omg.

In lieu of an actual reaction post to the latest Merlin and SPN, I wrote this open letter instead.

LASS. LASS. I AM CONTINUALLY AMAZED AT HOW INCREDIBLE THIS SHOW IS. I DON'T REALLY KNOW HOW TO EXIST IN A WORLD WHERE THIS SHOW IS REAL, AND ON NETWORK TELEVISION NONETHELESS. WHAT IS THIS AND HOW DO I ENSURE THAT IT LASTS FOREVER??

I sooo love how no-one is truly 100% good or bad on the show, and I love that the show treats all the characters fairly. And how amazing is it that they're all so realistic? Obviously they're stretching out the Will/Alicia because tv worships at the altar of UST, but the reasons play as completely and utterly believable to me, like the decisions real people, in the real world would make.

GOOOOSH I LOVE IT SO.

IT IS INCREDIBLE AND ALSO I WANT KALINDA'S WARDROBE AND no character is jazzed up to be supercool here, no one is ~dashing, no one is ~dark or the ~sexy one, EVERYONE IS JUST FOR REEEEAAAAL. ALICIA WANTS A PLAN, ANJ. A PLAN. Her development from the startled wife in the pilot to the mountain of excellence that she is now has been so organic, and... oh maybe it's not development, maybe it... maybe it is the peeling back of layers. Not just MOVING FORWARD, but also GOING WITHIN.

I came this close to making it a Supernatural crossover and having Scrooge make a deal with a crossroads demon instead.

I have to write my reverse big bang first, okay? Then I plan to SWAN DIVE into comment fic.

Watching her growth over the last season has been such a joy. And I love that she herself isn't built up or idealized, and even when other people are all, "You're such a saint" she's like, "nooo please stop I make bad decisions just like anyone else."

That plan line KILLED ME DEAD because that NEVER happens on tv, EVER. Sensible heroines for the motherfucking win!

Also your picture is appropriate because at first I was all worried that they were going to try and paint Diane as the evil bitchy bossy lady who tries to thwart Alicia and is jealous and ugh and she's totes not like that at all and is in fact THE BEST.

I am consistently surprised at how much I like Will/Alicia! I usually hate infidelity plots and Will is my least favorite of my favorites (I MEAN, IN A SHOW WHERE EVERYONE IS MY FAVORITE) and the voicemail thing was so WUT, but I looooove them. It doesn't feel like they are just throwing wrenches into the OTP of the show or whatever; it's pretty obvious where all of the feelings are come from, for Peter and for Will and MY FACE: *_______*

AND CARY. He is so douchey, I was all set to hate him, but then he was like ALICIA I LIKE YOU A LOT AND ALSO YOUR SCARF, I WANT TO PET IT AND ALSO I'M REALLY FUCKED UP RIGHT NOW and MY HEART, OMG. I don't ship Alicia/Kalinda as much as I expected to but that is mostly because I want them to hang out and drink tequila FOREVER and for Kalinda to always get twitches of conscience because of Alicia, AND I LOVE HER SO MUCH. Though I do not regret my foray into spn episodes. I can't enjoy fic if I'm unfamiliar with the canon, and now I can follow recs from my flist and stuff. And find creepy interpretations of random photoshoots!

Ooooh, which episodes have you watched? From which season mostly? My favorite S1 is 1x18 because yay family reunions :'). S3, Mystery Spot, definitely. S5, omg 5x04, The End, my all-time favorite ep because it is ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE AU.

You know what might be interesting Cliff notes for SPN to catch-up are episodes 4x18 and 5x09, because they are full of parody and fourth wall lulz.

5x04 may have recently been placed by 6x03 as all-time favorite though, I am not entirely sure.

Another lolz one from S3 is "Ghostfacers", which is a Ghost Hunters parody. From S2, "Hollywood Babylon" is lolzy, and sort of "Tall Tales" also, but it introduces a character that becomes important later on.

Well, you know, I HAVE had you on my subscriptions for SOMETHING OF A WHILE. Which means, at the least, you are an easy point for research. You cannot be SO surprised.

I am slowly working through other episodes. I'm not sure if I'm willing to admit it on journal yet, because of how I am not sure yet how much I am willing to commit to spn. WHY ARE YOU ALL ABOUT THE WHITE DUDE MAINPAIN, SHOW? (...And secretly I have tried spn as an experiment to see if I can, indeed, get into such, which I am admitting b/c I am into my third case of beer. Whatever. Maybe I'll write Claire Novak drabbles after all. I have a bunny for one.)

"The White Dude Manpain Show" is pretty much the real title of Supernatural. Honestly when it was a MOTW show, I had no interest in it, but when angels&apocalypses started happening, I became intrigued. With that as my point of entry, I started appreciating the MOTW aspect too, and now all of it is my crack.

CLAIRE NOVAK YES. She is my favorite character to barely have any lines ever. The situation she has to deal with is just so weird and heartbreaking. When she grows up, she's either gonna be Buffy or Luna Lovegood.
