I'm usually terrible at keeping my fic masterlist current, but I went and finally updated it today. It hasn't been updated since that croatverse shotgunning fic from Five Acts. My masterlist isn't as navigable as it could be, I think. The fics aren't listed chronologically, more like the fics I like better are nearer to the top. Should masterlists include fanmixes?

The shippiness doesn't really come in until the last couple of sentences, so it's mostly this wonderful and resonant contemplation of Dean and Castiel's relationship.
And now for something completely different! Gunkanjima ('battleship island') is an island off the coast of Nagasaki. Between 1887 and 1974, it was a thriving coal mining site, but as petroleum replaced coal in Japan in the 1960s, coal mines began shutting down all over the country. Gunkanjima closed in 1974 and reopened in 2009 for tourism.
So it's a ghost town, basically. Gunkanjima kind of reminds me of Kolmanskop, except with coal instead of diamonds. It also prone to REALLY AWESOME PICTURES. These are the kinds of places where I wanted Cas to look for God/Balthazar/Sam's soul, but idk, maybe you need a more visual medium than fic though. I mean, look at these. Imagine angels playing cat-and-mouse in the ruins, or Cas just wandering around looking regretful and pained.

a) Mary's in Hell, right? I mean, she never wriggled out of that deal. Also, when John and Dean were in Hell, Mary tried to overcome her torment to get them out, Orpheus-style.
b) She wondered if she ever really did love John, or if it was just her father's pigheadedness driving her away again. When she did hate her father, she hated her father on John's behalf, who actually thought Samuel was okay, if really grumpy. He reminded John of some COs he had back in 'Nam.
c) Her hair.
d) More face-offs with angels.
e) Zachariah, because of 5x16 grossness.
But now come to think of it, what with Mary being in Hell, I think I ship Bela/Mary just a little.

a) Her first kiss was Leon, which didn't surprise her, though she wished it had been someone else. Their adolescence was riddled with affections that would've been mutual if they didn't have it at different times, a consequence of proximity and habit.
b) She has a crush on eeeeeeevery guy. Haha that doesn't really make her 'terrible' though. I'm terrible at answering this question.
c) She's sensible, gentle, and knows her way around a smithy.

a) She meets Sam at a party where he is loose-limbed, awkward, vaguely rude, and taking up more space with his bulk than he means to. He is reluctantly holding court in the kitchen, where he can't help but respond to someone egging him on, and Jess defuses the situation by engaging Sam in an argument about diners in Virginia.
b) SHE DEAD :( . (Randomly, can souls become reapers? Can Jess be a reaper?)
c) Her patience with Sam as he adjusted to normal society. Well, as normal as colleges get.
d) I want a Sam monologue where he recalls some poignant memory of her.
