boo.

As I type this, this LJ has 11 friends, is the friend of 11 other LJs, and is a member of 11 communities. This must mean something... but what?

Anyway. I have fic recs.

Pirates of the Caribbean
Seascape by Kate ([livejournal.com profile] off_key)
Prologue & Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3
Summary: Ten years later, Will and Elizabeth find themselves in a strained marriage. Elizabeth fears a life of routine, until certain twists of fate bring about the disappearance of her son and the reappearance of Captain Jack Sparrow.
Elizabeth/Jack, Will/Elizabeth, Will/Jack. She's slapped on the R rating, but it's PG for now.

Yes, it's a WIP, but don't let that scare you off. And that summary's mine, not hers, so don't let that scare you off either. I didn't think I'd do POTC fic--no ships jumped out at me and I'm afraid of butchering Jack's character--but this series has me hooked. The language is classy without being overbearing, and the wit is subtle and sharp. Why, this fic is downright charming. Just like her Jack. Her chapters are rather short, however. Anyway, I hope the author finishes the series.

X2
New Amsterdam by Trismegistus ([livejournal.com profile] vagabond_sal)
Summary: "He's lived alone in the city now for a little over six months; the last night he saw Erik, the man had handed him a cellphone, uttered a single word ("Wait," pronounced the way Erik pronounced everything, like gravity bending the sides of his mouth), and slipped into Gotham dreaming without so much as a fare-thee-well to John."
Gen. PG13.

The author captures a wonderful, bleak feeling of inbetweens. This is stasis. This is your blood transubstantiating into cold water. Tris truly has a way with details and words. It just works. This is a dream-like portrayal of the meandering xenophobia of city-living. A must-read.

I kind of cheat when I do that, because I don't know the code personally; if you have the semagic client (http://www.livejournal.com/community/ljwin32_sema/) installed, you can do a thing where you make a livejournal link with different text; you go to Edit, then Make Link/Image, and presto, it's all there, in nice, organized text boxes. All you gotta do is fill stuff in and copy the code once it's generated. It's pretty nifty, easily the best livejournal client out there IMNSHO.
