Rec me music?

Yeah, so I need to finish [livejournal.com profile] mumblemutter's Viggo/Joe Black fic - and I will - but I was wondering if I could ask you guys a favor.

Rec me good songs to download about being in love. Not about heartbreak, or passive aggressive resentment, but just... y'know. "Yay, being in love is awesome possum!" And no, don't worry, this has nothing to do with the Viggo/Joe Black fic.

'Just Like Heaven' by The Cure. I prefer the Goldfinger cover.
'Here in your Bedroom' by Goldfinger
'You and I Both' by Jason Mraz - I looove this song. His voice is incredible.
'Don't Want to Miss a Thing' by Aerosmith
'The Shining' by Badly Drawn Boy. I like both the original and Avalanches mix.
'Bowl of Oranges' by Bright Eyes
'Coffee and TV' by Blur (I think this applies)
'Lover's Spit' by Broken Social Scene (same for this)
The band HIM plays metal-ish love songs, if you're into that.
'Hold My Hand' by Hootie and the Blowfish
'Only Wanna' be with You' by Hootie and the Blowfish
'Slow Hands' by Interpol
'Somewhere Only We Know' by Keane - one of my favorites
'Can't Take My Eyes Off of You' - Lauren Hill's version
'I Think I Love You' - Less Than Jake's version
'I Want You to Want Me' - Letters to Cleo's version
'Hanging by a Moment' by Lifehouse
'Over My Head' by Lit (this might be open to interpretation)
The Backstreet Boys, NSync, etc would have a lot
'Shout' by Otis Day and the Knights - everyone likes this song
'Kiss Me Deadly' - Reel Big Fish version
'Take On Me' by AHA. The Reel Big Fish version is cool, too.
'Never Gonna' Give You Up' by Rick Astley. Come on. You know you love it.
'Complainte de la Butte' by Rufus Wainwright
'Why Don't You and I' by Santana & Chad Kroger
'Love's Divine' by Seal
'The Greatest View' by Silverchair
'Hands Down' by Dashboard Confessional
'My Coco' by Stellastarr*
'Memory' by Sugarcult
'Bohemian Like You' by The Dandy Warhols
'I Believe in a Thing Called Love' In all it's Spandex-laden glory!
'Me and My Old Lady' by The Offspring
'Hotel Yorba' by the White Stripes
'Parabol' and 'Parabola' by Tool - they go together. Also up for interpretation.
'So Happy Together' by the Turtles
'Land of Shame' by Vast
'Buddy Holly' by Weezer
'My Love is Your Love' by Whitney Huston
'October Nights' by Yellowcard
'Everywhere' by Michelle Brance. Yellowcard also has a cover of this.

Those are the ones I thought could apply when I went down my playlist. I doubt you'll like all of them, because I myself don't like a bunch of the artists I listed, just those songs. Hope this was useful either way!

Bob Dylan - You Belong To Me (From Natural Born Killers Soundtrack).
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Soul to Squeeze.
Robbie Williams - She's the One.

... Okay, I've so showed off my dorkiness with that last one. Anyway...

Pete Murray - Feeler.

And that's all I got after a quick peek at my songs folders.

The Cure-Lovecats
The Cure- Friday I´m in love.

There is something very wrong with the fact that right now the only songs that come to mind are from a band of whom 99% percent of their work is of the WOE WOE WOE IS ME variety.

Haha. I was into The Cure for a while. Mostly because I was reading some really good Cure slash at the time.

[identity profile] doortje.livejournal.com 2005-01-12 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
hehe, its true there is slash of everything.

My older sister was a Cure groupie in her teens so hearing their music was inescapable when I was a wee lass =P

'Janie Jones' - The Clash
'Absolute Begginers' - David Bowie
'Something changed' - Pulp
'Inch' Allah' - MC Solaar

...I think that's it for now.

Without trawling through my playlists, the first thing that comes to mind is "Bound to Ramble" by The John Butler Trio. Aside from the lyrics, it's a gorgeous song to listen to, especially if you're in a laze-around-and-feel-smug-and-happy-on-Sunday-morning kind of mood. He wrote it about his wife, which just makes you envy her like mad.

Or, "Seeing Angels", which now is more upbeat, I think more the style you're after, "Hi, I love you, because you are wonderful".

Same with "Beautiful to Me" by Little Birdy. I just could cuddle this song all day. And one line actually says "Oh look! I fell in love!" *giggle*

do you feel my heart beating?

Dude. (I will start all comments to you with "Dude" from now on. Awesome.) Just when I saw your post? This (http://www.marthawainwright.com/mp3s/bmfa.mp3) singer/songwriter acoustic guitar song was playing on my laptop:

I will not pretend, I will not put on a smile,
I will not say I'm all right for you
when all I wanted was to be good (...)

You bloody motherfucking asshole
You bloody motherfucking asshole
You bloody motherfucking asshole
...

Bitterness aside, I had a look at my playlist and these are my recs:
Air - All I Need
Alanis Morissette - Head Over Feet
Ben Folds - The Luckiest
Elbow - Switching Off
REM - At My Most Beautiful
The Magnetic Fields - The Book Of Love (<3333333 (http://s14.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1B6B6339D9BE3104AE3E41BE21A91303))

And now we sleep.

Andrea

PS. Joe Black/Viggo! Whee!
