i'm gonna geek out like it's 1996
...Why does my 'nostalgic' mood emoticon look like that? How is that supposed to be 'nostalgic'?
ALRIGHT ALRIGHT, I know I'm late AGAIN, but someone geek out with me about the new X-Files movie. Mulder/Scully was my first ship, and I have become so used to their burning UST (hell, the X-Files fandom taught me what UST stood for) that I had to metaphorically rub my eyes and go, "Wait... are they on THE SAME BED????" And: "Scratchy beeaaaard." <3333 SO CUTE OMG. I think of all those Mulder/Scully fics I read in middle school and wonder if their authors are like, "VINDICATION after years and years!" But apparently Mulder and Scully fell in love in a recent season? I don't know, I stopped paying attention in the late 90s. Well, not that I paid that much attention anyway? The conspiracy confused me. I just read a lot of agent!smut.
That said, I don't like that Scully used the phrase, "That's why I fell in love with you." CHEESE. And I love the look on Scully's face when Amanda Peet got all in Mulder's personal space trying to touch his face. Alright, speaking of Amanda Peet, let us talk about how Dakota Whitney is TOO DUMB TO LIVE, chasing a criminal through a dark construction site while yelling, "MULDER WHERE ARE YOU?!?! I AM HERE!!! I'm going to screech where are you again, just in case the criminal didn't hear me!!!" So ya, he killed her. GOOD. God, she was annoying.
A.D. SKINNER OMIGAWD!!!!!! <3
Dude, Duchovny and Anderson are old. 'Kay, not old, but like, you can see the age on their faces, man. And Skinner, he was hella old. Helps to push in how 'back in my day, we shot aliens and it only cost quarter!'
My favorite Mulder/Scully scene was actually their 'breakup' in the hospital, because Scully is being all practical and knowing what she wants, and strong and taking no bullshit even if it kills her inside. HELL YA, SCULLY. DON'T TAKE NO BULLSHIT NOW.
ANYBODY ELSE NOTICE HOW THE X-FILES THEME PLAYED OVER DUBYA'S PHOTOGRAPH? The whole audience tittered. <33333333
You know, sometimes I think I can't tell whether movies are good or bad because I watch them through such fandom-tinted lenses. Sometimes I don't think "hey, that doesn't make sense" because instead I'm like "hmm, there must be some compelling backstory that explains why he just did that". On that note, I enjoyed the X-Files movie, but I don't think it was creepy enough, and they were laying the Mulder/Scully just a slight too cheesily.
Have any of you X-Philes in the audience ever read a novel-length fanfic called 'The Magician'? It is about how Mulder and Scully go through a dimensional vortex and end up in a magical world (elves and everything) where Mulder is a prophesied mage and Scully is a warrior but also a healer. NO, SERIOUSLY. There is a naive prince, a kindly regent, a human/elf sex scene, soulmate phlebotinum, an EPIC SHOWDOWN, and in the sequel (YES THERE ARE MULTIPLE SEQUELS), there is a feisty teenaged runaway named Shannon with amber eyes who also falls into this world, and poses as Mulder's niece so he can protect her. I think she gets with the prince. And Scully opens some warrior academy or something. YOU GUYS. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. YOU GUYS. OH MY GOD.
Ah, youth. HERE IS THE LINK. 'The Magician' and 'The Runaway' are SADLY dead links, but you can still read 'The Dark Queen' and 'The Warrior Priest' in its entirety. HERE IS A MAP OF THE MAGICAL LAND oh my god you guys i read ALL of it i really did.
I'm currently downloading some first-season X-Files episodes. One of these days, I would really love to finally watch all the episodes and finally figure out what the hell was going on.
My Dawn Treader audiobook has taught me that the word 'bedraggled' is actually pronounced 'bee draggled'. I had been pronouncing it 'bed raggled' all these years. Well, at least in my head -- I can't remember the last time I said 'bedraggled' out loud. It's not one of those words people say out loud a lot. But it should be!

Ya, the plot was kind of disappointing, I dunno. It felt like an overlong episode instead of a grand movie, with extra heapings of loooooooove. omg mulder/scully!111
Everywhere I go in fandom, SPN pops up in some form or another. I dunno, I don't really do TV, I find it too tedious to keep up with it, and in a few days or so I won't even have a TV anymore.

me too! but now i know. and they say you don't learn things from your f-list...
on a sidenote, your narnia fangirling makes me kind of want to reread the books (i read them when i was 9 and loved them) so i can watch the movies... but.
