as summed up by wordle

I have unpacked my luggage, I have made my bed, I have registered for classes. Guys, my summer is officially over, and here is a Wordle to sum it all up:

My favorite is how Susan is canonically separate from everything else. I was playing around with the Wordle fonts, trying to find the right one, but then this particular arrangement came out and decided for me. OH SUSAN.

I'm also amused by how huge 'like' is. Either I talk like a valley girl or I make too many metaphors -- bit of Column A, bit of Column B. Oh Narnia, my online boyfriend. Insert that "Summer Lovin'" song from Grease here, please
. Before this summer, the last entry I wrote was in 2006 about X3.

INTRIGUING PREMISES: [livejournal.com profile] bttf_slash and [livejournal.com profile] ha_prompts. BTTF stands for Back to the Future and HA stands for Hey Arnold. DON'T TELL ME YOU'RE NOT INTRIGUED. I haven't perused the communities in detail yet, but man, I could go for a little bit of Arnold/Gerald, can't you?

Hey, does anyone else have as a big hard-on for The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford as I do? It's following in the trend of movies that feel like fic -- I guess 'cos it is. Jesse James fic, that is. More on this later, but for now suffice it to say that Jesse James, Peter Pevensie, and the Dark Knight should get together and drink strong drink and commiserate, these men haunted by their own legend, shadows of their former incarnations betrayed by the passage of time.

I only have one tee-tiny bit of fic left!

"Wayne," Pevensie drawls, "I was killing men before your parents were born."

*head to side* I think it's curious that it's all Bruce/Batman outsider POV. Why would any sane person want to get inside Bruce Wayne's head?

Does Peter really care about the greater good, though? After all, it's not his world -- it's not even his birth-country; he's in America, not England, but I kind of doubt he cared all that much about England either, even while he was flying with the RAF. Being in Gotham is a puzzle for him to figure out, something to amuse him, but he doesn't care, at least until he gets his interest piqued, either by Batman or by the villain running around. (My view of Peter is not, perhaps, the most generous ever. And boy, that was the understatement of the century, wasn't it? I like my heroes tragic, deadly, and emotionally stunted, apparently.)

to ogle peter probably, as one is wont to do sometimes.

yeah, your peter is much more sociopathic than mine. my peter does have faith in aslan and doing good, it's just that his faith in aslan (on top of politics) can lead him to do questionable things. he's idealistic, in the religious fanatic sort of way. the means is whatever is at hand, but the ends is doing good, being a good king and protector. i think it's important to peter to be upright and an example because he takes being king seriously. look at how seriously he takes being the eldest!

and sleeping with susan figures into that somehow, i'm just not sure exactly how.

*plays around with fic more*

Bruce Wayne sleeps with men. It's not exactly common knowledge, but it's no secret either, and it's an easy excuse to watch Agent Pevensie as the man mixes with Gotham's prominents. The longer he watches, the more his interest is piqued, because he wouldn't have pegged Pevensie as a member of the trust fund brigade, but he's easy and calm in their midst, like he's born to it. It's not a skill most feds cultivate.

He's curious enough about it that he judges Bruce Wayne to get tipsier earlier than he might otherwise and makes his way to Pevensie's side. "Enjoying yourself?" he drawls.

"Not at all," Pevensie says, tone so gracious that if Bruce really were drunk, he wouldn't hear the insult at all.

*nods* And my Peter is brutally pragmatic, and will put Narnia before all else, including his well-being, his siblings, and Aslan's -- although he hasn't had to do that last just yet, or hasn't realized that Aslan and Narnia aren't necessarily interchangeable. My Peter's let himself be made into a weapon, and doesn't even realize it, or that it could be a bad thing in anyway. Forged in the fires of Narnia's need and Aslan's will...

there's potential interesting thoughts where the interchangeablity of aslan and narnia is concerned. probably 'last battle' fic, where peter closes the door on narnia forever. by way of my susan characterization, i have a tendency to project "that which you love that rules you" into either aslan or narnia (or peter?) as i see fit. or maybe "that which you know how to love". my peter's self-possessed, but not suave, though i am enjoying how you have pretty much turned peter into james bond in these ficlet thingies.

Personally, I think Edmund would make a much better James Bond than Peter, but Peter can manage. The question is just whether he's going to remember to do things like shoot out security cameras, but then again, he is flexible.
