Fuck you, world.

PISSED OFF. At my my on-campus housing not working out. It's going to be a LITTLE bit difficult writing a thesis when you live in the gutter, THANKS. How do I begin to search for apartments in New York when I am ON ANOTHER CONTINENT. I AM ALSO PISSED OFF AT MY FLU. Though, I am amused at the feverish half-awake dreams it gives me. "must text my mother that I'll meet her soon" + "Naaaaarrrrrrniajsfsjakfnrfs" = "must text Lucy to stop Edmund from killing too many people, the throne is more secure than he thinks". Well, the flu got me sleeping at a decent hour, at least. BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I LIKE YOU, FLU.

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] narnia_secret is kind of hilarious! This one kind of sums Narnia up for me. Aha, so I am not the only one intrigued by this ship.

MY SECRETS
1. I think Anna Popplewell is rather plain-looking, and has bad taste in dresses.
2. I kind of love this Binbons nickname.

That is all the news that's fit to print. ARGH.

Um.

Okay, seriously. I've been reading these complaints that the Narnia fandom is overrun by Peter/Susan fics? SERIOUSLY? Where?!? Where are all the Peter/Susan fics these people keep on complaining about?!

If you guys haven't watched The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, you probably should. RUN DON'T WALK. It's all bloated adolescent egos, hijinks, crass conversation, overconsumption of alcohol, Jodie Foster holy shit, comic books, Jena Malone! (I love Jena Malone!), and Tim and Francis's enduring love friendship, all against the backdrop of Catholic school. It's exactly the kind of movie I want to write "are you quite sure it's gen?" fic about. Ya, Tim/Francis fic, let you show me it!

Natterings: Monsoon Wedding, Neverwhere miniseries, The Secret Garden, Hot Fuzz. )

My knowledge of mid-90s pop-rock won me a ficlet by bedlamsbard, which you should all read. I asked for Peter and Susan drinking in England, and lo, they are. On that note, Dee wrote Peter and Susan being strong and dignified and Pen wrote Caspian and Peter and Susan in revelry. And someone wrote Caspian gen, which is a rare, rare bird. Ya, the recs format is not so great this time, EH WELL.

TV Tropes Challenge fic: "Hereafter" (Chronicles of Narnia)

Warning! Spoilers for C.S. Lewis's The Last Battle EVERYWHERE.

This is my trope. This fic was almost a Harry Potter crossover because I wanted to splice that trope with a permutation of the I Wish It Were Real trope. Thank god that didn't work out! And then I was going to have Edmund and Caspian wander around Aslan's Country's various afterlifes in a sort of crossover extravaganza, but then Mr. and Mrs. Pevensie -- who were only supposed to be there for a scene or two -- kind of stole the show.

Hereafter
Chronicles of Narnia. PG. Edmund, Caspian, and the Pevensie parents, and Susan, at the edges. Big heaping thanks to [livejournal.com profile] alice_pike and a flower for [livejournal.com profile] bantha_fodder.
Edmund and Caspian set out to explore Aslan's Country, and get sidetracked.
