So, ‘Faith’ right? It’s Jimmy with the crapped out heart and he’s furious, furious when Jacob pulls up in the mud outside a tent, snarling, “THIS you believe in? THIS?” and tugging the MIT sweater like he wants to rip it off and strangle his brother with it because he remembers eighteen Christmases and Easters of Jacob’s eyes rolling all the way through mass. And Jacob is like, I WILL BELIEVE IN ANYTHING THAT WILL SAVE YOU, his hands gripping the steering wheel too tight, avoiding Jimmy’s eyes. When the service starts and Jimmy gets called up, he feels sick because Jacob closes his eyes and prays with the whole congregation, he was never willing to pray to save his own damn soul but he’ll do this, the fucking bastard.
4x01, "Lazarus Rising"
"What's the matter? You don't think you deserve to be saved?"
Meg, what are you doing in S4?! Meg is the Ruby in S3/4, which started out this way so we can abuse 6x10 and 5x10 GIFs for Jimmy/Meg purposes, but now it's a THING, and wait until we get to 4x16, basically.
4x20, Castiel in the warehouse shortly before getting dragged back to Bible camp:
they have cornered him
"castiel," zach says. "i'm not mad, i'm just disappointed.

"probably not. but it'll help in other ways."

callowyn: Oh my god is this French Mistake and they are pretending to be a singular Misha at some ridiculous CW event and they relieve each other every hour or so but all the interviewers like Jacob better and Jacob acts like it’s just another day on the radio show, the truth is out there dear viewers! ...This would explain so much about actual Misha.
metonomia: Oh god which of them runs the twitter, and which goes to cons? Who came up with the idea for the rhino giveaway? HOW DID THEY SPLIT THE PILE OF UNDERWEAR?

maybe jimmy doesn't want to tell these crazy stories about monsters to the kids at school at first, he wants to be normal
but the stories seem to win him prestige with his peers
so he goes with that a little bit
just enough to make them laugh
let him sit with them at lunch
as jacob glowers from another table
jimmy's own goofiness tends to get lost in all the angst
his dorkiness
jimmy's a dork with normal ppl. he knows his shit with hunting and religion, etc, but when he's hanging out with friends they're like "lol novak what is wrong with you"
ppl think he's innocuous, but only because he is not upfront
he doesn't think of himself as manipulative, but he is
jacob is blunt
it's harder to earn jacob's respect
jimmy cares less about respecting ppl though,
or at least, in a different way
jimmy is a perfectionist but he sort of wants blanket approval, regardless of how he sees the person judging him
jacob only cares about the opinions of a select few

and jimmy rings jacob at her insistence
years of radio silence between them and it leads to broken voices they could recognise underwater
to jimmy it’s relief, and a weight off his chest
it’s brother i’ve missed you, there’s so much to tell you
i heard about a wendigo sighting, and all those omens in peoria — gone, overnight. sometimes i forget to salt the windows, forget you’re not there to fix them, isn’t that funny? remember that time we went to cedar rapids and the ice rink was closed?
but jacob hears all the things he doesn’t say
all the silences he fills to make up for lost time
and when he asks jimmy if he’s happy, i’m happy for you brother, are you happy?
he’s doesn’t ask the hard questions
because the answer is simple
are you happy without me?
do you remember what it was like, those inches of seperation, did you feel it too?
jimmy doesn’t know shades of grey, he knows monsters that don’t grab you and the cold feel of jacob’s bare feet, are you there jake?
remember that time we ran all the way from cicero with a stolen bottle of whiskey?
cause i’m happy. i’m not alone.
do you know what that’s like?

After their mother's funeral, they decide on a truce of dinner out. (By 'college', it means 'childhood'.)
Shortly before 1x01, after the deaths of Amelia and Claire:
He can’t remember who took the picture or when it was taken. Late high school? Early college? A last-minute, split-second decision: before Jimmy steps out the door, he slides the photo out of its frame and into his wallet. He goes to his car. He heads east. For the first time in years, he lets himself need his brother.
