Sam and Dean turn to look at each other one last time and Dean winks and Sam smiles and then they run off into a hailfire of bullets (er....Mother of All).

You know, the fact that Kripke admits himself that Swan Song wasn't the ending as he'd envisioned it at the start makes me happy and ragey at the same time, because I'm still sure that whatever the mechanic of the plot, it was supposed to be Dean and Sam dying while trapping Lucifer and I would have been so so happy. I wouldn't have cared if it was the closing episode of the whole series or not! So I agree with the sentiment: die Dean and Sam die! so we can make you come back again in season 7. They've never been killed TOGETHER after all. :D

Sam and Dean really just need to die together saving the world. The End. God can resurrect them for S7 if need be. But I would love the ultimate cliffie of them dying together at the end of this season. *hopes*
