as summed up by wordle
I have unpacked my luggage, I have made my bed, I have registered for classes. Guys, my summer is officially over, and here is a Wordle to sum it all up:

My favorite is how Susan is canonically separate from everything else. I was playing around with the Wordle fonts, trying to find the right one, but then this particular arrangement came out and decided for me. OH SUSAN.
I'm also amused by how huge 'like' is. Either I talk like a valley girl or I make too many metaphors -- bit of Column A, bit of Column B. Oh Narnia, my online boyfriend. Insert that "Summer Lovin'" song from Grease here, please
. Before this summer, the last entry I wrote was in 2006 about X3.
INTRIGUING PREMISES:
bttf_slash and
ha_prompts. BTTF stands for Back to the Future and HA stands for Hey Arnold. DON'T TELL ME YOU'RE NOT INTRIGUED. I haven't perused the communities in detail yet, but man, I could go for a little bit of Arnold/Gerald, can't you?
Hey, does anyone else have as a big hard-on for The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford as I do? It's following in the trend of movies that feel like fic -- I guess 'cos it is. Jesse James fic, that is. More on this later, but for now suffice it to say that Jesse James, Peter Pevensie, and the Dark Knight should get together and drink strong drink and commiserate, these men haunted by their own legend, shadows of their former incarnations betrayed by the passage of time.

Also, Peter can kill things. With his bare hands. And possibly a sword. Or some makeshift weapon.
And we can start to see how Susan is beginning to crack up after so long alone and finally getting her brother back. And there is one FBI agent who's convinced that Peter is a spy or a plant or something otherwise evil, and Susan throws him up against a wall and threatens to kill him if he comes near her brother. Which doesn't really help her credentials much, so she's held back from coming to Gotham immediately, so for a bit Peter's there either by himself or with some other FBI agents.
And then the three of them can be trapped in Arkham for some reason. Peter and Bruce (or Batman?) together, or close enough they find each other, and Susan in some separate part of the asylum. And then Peter kills people, completely brutal and without flinching and even Bruce/Batman quails, because he thought Peter was one of the good guys. And then they go find Susan, who's a little disheveled and understandably annoyed, but otherwise fine.
And Peter and Batman have a lot of confrontations in dark alleys. And possibly sex, although that may be Peter and Bruce. *considers*

So it'll just have to be suave bastard!Bruce and borderline nutter!Peter sex. I know you'll have problems with this.
And have you considered Peter going 'you think you know what it is to rule. You have no idea.' Considering Bruce is essentially Gotham's Crown Prince and the Wayne family canonically (at least in comics) owns 99% of the land that Gotham is built on.
:ponders Bruce being terribly suave to Susan at a party and Susan being amused:
Villain...er... villain... Two-Face might've been good if he wasn't dead. Riddler? Joker is just too fucking nuts. Penguin... not so much, since he's a nightclub owner who's Gotham's main fence and commissioner of crimes these days. Poison Ivy? Oh dear lord. I now have images of Peter looking terribly bored by Poison Ivy, because on the one hand she reminds him ever-so-slightly of the Witch.

Of course, even when I write a perfect opportunity for Peter/Bruce, all I get is violence. *stares at screen* Although Bruce has blown his cover. Not that I played around with this. At all. Obviously. Somehow these words seem like deja vu.
And Peter and Bruce having conversations that basically mean two things -- one, Special Agent Pevensie and Bruce Wayne talking idly, and two, High King Peter and Batman growling at each other. And anyone who's in the area kind of drifts away, because it's very very disconcerting, and they haven't the faintest idea why.
And of course one of the topics of conversations at those parties is going to be whether or not Bruce Wayne takes that cute young FBI agent home. Because Peter is physically about twenty-four or twenty-five, and he looks younger, and if anyone were to run a background check on him, well...FBI records say that he's ex-Army special forces, natural-born American citizen raised in England, one older half-sister... *is terribly amused by Peter's fake background*
Because, of course, someone's going to throw his background in his face at some point in time -- probably Bruce, definitely the villain. And Peter's just going to look bemused, and maybe a little insulted, and definitely pretty gleeful at the point his gun runs out of bullets or gets frozen or, I don't know, something that makes it not work. "Good," he says, tossing it away, "I like having an advantage in a fight."
*cough* I have definite goals for this (non-existent) piece. One of them involves Peter and Bruce/Batman being trapped together. Joker would probably be crazy enough to think that capturing a federal agent is a good idea...

Oh, the Joker would be all for capturing feds to mess with their heads. he's done it gazillions of times in comics, and comics Joker is not as scary as film!Joker. I was more wondering whether he'd do the bait thing.
'I have a bomb wired to this hand and jacket.' :peter throws knife that cuts his hand off/stabs him in the heart: '...You're not supposed to do that.'
Peter: 'I was supposed to do something else to negate the threat?'
Blockage in the gun. Not to mention? handguns are not in the slightest bit accurate for any sort of distance shot. The films and tv lie. Anything you want any vague accuracy, you need a long-nosed or rifle. Peter would dislike them *immensely*.
You know, you really need to lock them up in a museum where there are medieval weapons. Just saying. Be nice to Peter. Because when they get free, or are possibly just hanging around waiting, Peter smashes the glass or grabs a very large axe off an exhibit. And then casually twirls it. (someone handed me a six-foot norse axe this weekend. They're surprisingly easy to twirl once you get the knack. And handaxes are very much fun.) Stil pondering what Bruce's view on manhandling the exhibits are.

Peter kills civilians. And at Batman and Joker's surprised expressions (or, you know, whatever), he gets this blank look on his face and just says, "Exigencies of war," with the slightest hint of confusion in his voice.
Peter, being a WWII vet, would know how to use a gun, but he's not fond of them at all. It's not a matter of honest or dishonest fighting (which is another concept he either doesn't understand or doesn't care about), it's a matter of ending the problem, one, quickly, and, two, without creating more problems in turn. And guns just have too much chance of going wrong.
It can be a museum that's owned by Bruce Wayne! So he's torn between those are *mine*, those are *expensive*, and how the hell does he do that? And Peter cuts someone's head off. This can be Peter and Bruce.
Susan can be at the doors of the museum with the cavalry. Just sayin'. Because she finally arrives now. Then later we can have Peter, Susan, and Batman trapped in Arkham.
*teeny-tiny snippet*
"What do you have that I don't?" Bruce asks.
Pevensie doesn't look up. "Experience," he says shortly.
Bruce lets out a derisive snort. "I doubt it," he says.
"Believe what you want. Just stay out of my way, Batman."
"Whatever experience you think Iraq gave you, it won't help you here."
Pevensie does look up at that. "Iraq?" he says. "Is that what my file says? I've never been there. I did my tour in Burma."
The U.S. isn't involved in Burma.

*posts more*
(And here I was going to apologize for spamming your journal...)
Mmm, Peter/Bruce/Susan. Of course, since I have a complete inability to actually get any of my characters in bed together except for Caspian and Peta...

can't you just see peter sliding into villainy here. especially when you contrast him with batman, what with peter being more ready to get his hands dirty for the greater good. he would kill people or something for the greater good (maybe like a less subtle version of edmund) and batman would have to stop him. they can have hot enemy!sex.

"Wayne," Pevensie drawls, "I was killing men before your parents were born."
*head to side* I think it's curious that it's all Bruce/Batman outsider POV. Why would any sane person want to get inside Bruce Wayne's head?
Does Peter really care about the greater good, though? After all, it's not his world -- it's not even his birth-country; he's in America, not England, but I kind of doubt he cared all that much about England either, even while he was flying with the RAF. Being in Gotham is a puzzle for him to figure out, something to amuse him, but he doesn't care, at least until he gets his interest piqued, either by Batman or by the villain running around. (My view of Peter is not, perhaps, the most generous ever. And boy, that was the understatement of the century, wasn't it? I like my heroes tragic, deadly, and emotionally stunted, apparently.)

yeah, your peter is much more sociopathic than mine. my peter does have faith in aslan and doing good, it's just that his faith in aslan (on top of politics) can lead him to do questionable things. he's idealistic, in the religious fanatic sort of way. the means is whatever is at hand, but the ends is doing good, being a good king and protector. i think it's important to peter to be upright and an example because he takes being king seriously. look at how seriously he takes being the eldest!
and sleeping with susan figures into that somehow, i'm just not sure exactly how.

Bruce Wayne sleeps with men. It's not exactly common knowledge, but it's no secret either, and it's an easy excuse to watch Agent Pevensie as the man mixes with Gotham's prominents. The longer he watches, the more his interest is piqued, because he wouldn't have pegged Pevensie as a member of the trust fund brigade, but he's easy and calm in their midst, like he's born to it. It's not a skill most feds cultivate.
He's curious enough about it that he judges Bruce Wayne to get tipsier earlier than he might otherwise and makes his way to Pevensie's side. "Enjoying yourself?" he drawls.
"Not at all," Pevensie says, tone so gracious that if Bruce really were drunk, he wouldn't hear the insult at all.
*nods* And my Peter is brutally pragmatic, and will put Narnia before all else, including his well-being, his siblings, and Aslan's -- although he hasn't had to do that last just yet, or hasn't realized that Aslan and Narnia aren't necessarily interchangeable. My Peter's let himself be made into a weapon, and doesn't even realize it, or that it could be a bad thing in anyway. Forged in the fires of Narnia's need and Aslan's will...
