"Sam, you know what I like to do when the devil is hunting me down?" Spongebob says.

Sam, who had his face buried in his hands, insistently morose, looks up and cocks a cynical eyebrow. "Does the devil often hunt you down?"

Spongebob cheerfully ignores him. "I catch jellyfish!"

"You... what?"

Spongebob offers Sam something that looks like a butterfly net.

"What's this?" asks Sam.

"A net," Spongebob replies, "to catch the jellyfish. Come on!"

And the little sea sponge bounds away. Sam stares after him, then - with a sigh - follows behind.

Sam turns out to be pretty good at catching jellyfish, and is surprised to discover that he even enjoys it, just a little.

As someone who had to sit through Spongebob: the Musical when it was on at the Hackney Empire (I have a kidlet), may I just say that it would have been immeasurably improved if they'd hired you for the plot and the scriptwriting? The jellyfish-catching in their existing script did not, sadly, come after any satan-fleeing. I wouldn't mind seeing what you'd do to the casting, either!

Spongebob the Musical! There's a part of me that kind of wants to see that, I will admit.

I can so see it =D I would love to see Lucifer have to spend time with (or be haunted by) Spongebob.

Prior to reading this, I had come to the realization that Castiel and Spongebob have some serious overlap in their personalities. I did a quick google search to see if anyone else felt this way, and the answer was apparently not, but that some people think SB could seduce him with krabby patties. But then I stumbled across your post, so I'm happy anyway.
