I am increasingly seduced by the Macbook. COME TO ME, LOGIC EXPRESS AND NO VIRUSES.
Okay, so my crashing problem isn't just with Firefox, since my new-fangled (and v. pretty!) Google Chrome has just crashed. Goddammit. Computers fucking hate me, I'm telling you. Also, it's doing this thing where sound still comes out the laptop speakers even though earphones are already plugged in. What's up with that? Anyone? Bueller?
Thanks to the most munificent Sir Nix, I have a Google Wave account. Let's be Gwave friends, guys! If you, too, want to be a Gwaver, comment here and I'll send you an invite, first come first serve. But apparently invites aren't gonna be sent off immediately because the Gwave mods... "have a lot of stamps to lick". So.
IN TURN, do any of you guys have an extra invite for AOOO lying around?
Speaking of archiving/journaling things you need to be invited to, is Skyhawke still a big thing? Do you guys frequent it? Has the LJ-to-Dreamwidth migration actually taken place? What are the cool haps or whatever going on in these places that LJers are not party to?
REC: two minutes before you go to sleep, Narnia/Peter Pan (!! \o/). He had never flown in Narnia, but now, hovering miles over London in the dark, with the wind in his hair and clouds curling around his feet, Peter Pevensie recognized the feeling perfectly. <333 <33
I am procrastinating more things than I care to admit to. One of those things is 'return to New York'.

I think you have worse luck with computers than I do. And that says quite a lot. My laptop did that speaker thing, too, but it stopped by itself? idk.

If I didn't know any better, I would take pride in how inept I am at keeping computers alive. THEY ARE LIKE GOLDFISH TO ME.
GoogleWave, as far as I've seen, is like GoogleDocs on steroids. I don't even have a GoogleDocs though, so. AOOO is like fanfiction.net but affiliated with OTW (Organization for Transformative Works), which is like... a fannish nonprofit?

I had this exact same problem last year. It turned out that my headphone jack was physically broken. On some computers this can be fixed by having a computer professional take apart your computer, take out the headphone jack, and replace it. On my computer this is impossible, because apparently Sony Vaio superglues everything together or some such nonsense.
BUT! I got this nifty device from Radioshack, and now I just plug my headphones into a USB port. (The only annoying thing about this is you need to close and re-open programs for it to notice the switch, so if I'm watching a Youtube video on my speakers and then I want to switch to headphones, I need to close Firefox, plug them in, and then re-open Firefox.)
If the problem isn't with your headphone jack, you should try making sure you've downloaded all recent updates (I have Windows Update-- don't know what the deal with Mac is) and un-installing and re-installing your audio driver.
Just be sad that I'm the one explaining this to you, and not
Rejus, the ridiculously hot computer guy at my dad's office...

babycomputer twice. I'm just waiting for my dad to mention computer problems at his office, so I can choose that day to show up for a surprise visit.Anyway, the good news is that even if your headphone jack is broken, headphone-to-USB converters are cheap and not too hard to find. They usually put them with the Skype equipment in electronic stores. And it's definitely a cheaper option than having a professional look at it.

STILL DON'T REALLY GET IT. It's sort of like GCHAT.

I'm so out of it tonight. WAY NOT TO QUALIFY.
I so want an AOOC thing too, I was too stupid to understand the acronym when people were offering them.

I signed up for AOOC waitlist but I think I'm number 5473595443534854.

...ahem. But they do reply to feedback and bug reports, so I have hope! And I like the rosy-cheeked idealism behind the whole thing, so. We'll see!

Also OMG the Narnia/Neverland crossover! Now I really want to see Susan and Wendy talking and being The Sensible One and staying in London to grow up. YES.
no subject
YES ME TOO. What is the timeline of Peter Pan? Would Wendy and Susan be similar ages?
no subject
Wiki says Peter Pan was published in like 1911. So...no. BUT Wendy could totally meet Susan afterward, or something.
