- I kinda love that Sam and Dean kept referring to the baby as 'it' and 'that thing'. Perhaps I am just projecting, because in the wake of 6x02 spoilers, I found my feelings best encapsulated by this doodle of Kate Beaton's. What was even filming this episode like? There must've been so many babies on set!

- I also like Dean giving the baby booze. A+, Dean.

- A CAMPBELL DEATH SO SOON ALREADY? NOOOOOO. More importantly--omfg, I liked this ep of SPN like a lot! Ben had lines! AND OMFG LIIIIISA. I want to know more about you for real. I want Dean to dump you at Bobby's and Bobby to teach you all about hunting!!!

I am so glad Ben isn't just a punchline anymore! I mean okay, he was lololol in S3, whatever, but now he GOES ON LONELY BIKE RIDES and LONGINGLY RIFLES THROUGH DEAN'S STUFF and omg Ben. Just made my TFW:TNG canon (lol 'canon') more interesting.

I WANT DEAN'S PAST COMING OUT IN BITS AND PIECES TO LISA OVER LATE-NIGHT BEERS AND EARLY MORNING COFFEE AND LONG DRIVES TO THE LAKE WHEN BEN IS ASLEEP IN THE BACKSEAT (OR IS HE???). I want Lisa teaching him yoga and Dean being all like "wtf" and she laughs and they end up wrestling and then sexytimes. I want Dean having "woah" and "wtf" moments when he realizes that Lisa is more than just the symbol of woman and family that he put on the pedestal.

Oh man, I have SUCH THOUGHTS about next gen. Like. Like. Vegan camp with early-morning yoga and mandatory therapy (Lisa convinces Amelia to send Claire and Katie's mom to send Katie. I don't know why Jesse is there), and Cassie is a counselor working on like a piece about children raised in single-parent homes working through their issues at camp or something, and she like hangs out in her cabin eating locally grown tomato sandwiches, and then Kat shows up and is like "Hey I ditched Emily while she was trying to kill Aphrodite and Raphael, want a burger?" and the kids are like YOU CHEATER WHY DO YOU GET TO EAT MCDONALD'S and Cassie is like I DON'T, IT'S BAD FOR YOU, and then a werewolf shows up and everyone goes into spn attack mode, and Kat shoots it. Ben is like, "My mom's boyfriend does that," and Cassie is like "Who's that?" because she knows all the hunters, and Ben is like "Dean Winchester." Cassie gets real quiet for a moment. "Dean?" she says, and then, "Well, I guess you all need to learn the ropes."

Later, Ben says to Dean, "I learned what to do. At camp. A counselor taught us." "We sent him to camp to have fun, not learn how to hunt!" Dean says, and then, "Who taught you?" And when Ben says Cassie, there's this silence, and then that night Dean turns the Cassie phone on for the first time since he came back to Lisa (he kept it on for so long in case she called him for help or to come back, but for a year now he's been out of the job and with Lisa so there's nothing he could do for her, and he silenced the phone when it told him to charge the batteries and then let it die), and calls her. "What do you think you're doing," he asks.

HOKAY, I tracked down the commentfic thread and this is sorta what I have for it:

LOL YES, OH DEAN. I have this half-formed idea of post-5x22 AU where Cas is still human and takes up hunting by himself, and then he ends up meeting hunter!Cassie somewhere. Whether they acknowledge the Dean connection, I am still undecided on. I am very decided that they should do it though.

It's complicated, y'know, because Jesse's feelings about both Castiel and Claire are VERY CLEAR, but Claire's relationship with Castiel is kinda weird, and it frustrates Jesse. The guy tore her family apart, kidnapped her dad, then took her body; what's to like? It's a little more complicated than that though. It's not that Claire likes Cas, or loves him. It's not that she forgives Cas, or if 'forgive' is even the right word, and neither is 'revenge'. But she loves her father, and is bewildered that he has ever chosen Castiel over his family. She is connected to Castiel in this intimate terrifying way. He has been inside her mind and body, but she doesn't know what that means to him. She doesn't even know what that means to her. They are sharply aware of each other though, and it is an uncomfortable and breathtaking thing for them both.

Castiel hesitates too long before answering, and Cassie mistakes it to mean that he doesn't want to talk about it. Being a busybody is part of being a journalist, Cassie explains as she crawls on top of him and drops a kiss on his nose. Some habits, she says, are hard to break.

alskdjf oh, how I love your Cas/Claire relationship. Because yeah, it's not about love or forgiveness, it's about being connected in a way that is too intimate to ever be broken. For Cas, too, because a vessel is what allows him to move in this world.

EEEE. Cas/Cass! YES PLEASE. And they are like in loooove and it is super awkward and there are things not to be talked about and I looooove it.

AH, CAS/CLAIRE, my not-so-secret new OTP. My feelings on them are many and have thus far been expressed by the crap I post on

gid_hanasheh and most of the pictures I post on tumblr. When it comes to vessels, I think it comes down to them OWNING the yes they give. Granted, there's a fine line between owning it and being coerced into it, CAS, but... that is why I'm intrigued by it? It's kind of like... next to God, you will never be an equal, but what if this was a comfort instead of a curse? What if you feel unburdened that you are something He can hold in the palm of His hand? Embrace your fragility. idk, I feel like there's something in narratives that privileges action over inaction (...I feel like inaction is not the right word), but even the definition of action and inaction is limited here. The connotations of these terms in this discussion are not satisfying to me. idk. Faith is a joyful longing.

RIGHT RIGHT. THEY CAN TEACH EACH OTHER THINGS. And when something comes up where they have to contact Dean, they're both kinda hesitant.

YEAH. Okay, like, like. This is not quite the same thing, but--Achilles and Patrokles, right, Achilles is like super awesome and Patrokles is like his second in command but he is comfortable in that subordinate role, he is not less. Only this is like on a more cosmic scale but maybe it is a comfort, yes, that there is an angel there for you, with you, if Claire has him as a friend as well, before and maybe after the yes. Um...action/inaction, but maybe also...passivity? submission? acceptance? assent and consent? something about saying, the way to be an agent here is to not be an agent.

YEAH. And they maybe don't want to contact him at all, maybe they go through Sam instead.

YES: not less. If the needle is wise, be the thread. In a way, Cas also puts Claire on a pedestal. And they may limit themselves to various degrees by being with each other, but they also become more than the sum of their parts.

THE LOOK ON DEAN'S FACE WHEN HE FINALLY FINDS OUT, THOUGH. He'll give them shit for it in a faux-jokey way and act like it's not a big deal. And it really mostly isn't. Except for those times when he walks into a room and Cas and Cassie just stop talking and look at him.

idk, I got the impression in 4x20 that if an angel leaves the vessel, he has to get the vessel's consent all over again before he can come in. Like, there's no season pass. You gotta pay admission every time.

But you can't kick the angel out, right?

Well, not as far as we've seen. I think some angels would be more amenable to the idea of communicating with the vessel during envesselage more than others, who maybe would just smother the vessel completely. I like to think the angel/vessel relationship is varied in its fraughtness from vessel to vessel. Maybe some angels feel more warmly towards their vessel (Cas/Claaaaaire), and maybe some are completely aloof and clinical. I reckon it varies from angel to angel how informed the consent they get from their vessel is.

MAYBE I WILL WRITE BITS OF IT LATER THEN, INSTEAD OF HOMEWORK.
