I'm usually terrible at keeping my fic masterlist current, but I went and finally updated it today. It hasn't been updated since that croatverse shotgunning fic from Five Acts. My masterlist isn't as navigable as it could be, I think. The fics aren't listed chronologically, more like the fics I like better are nearer to the top. Should masterlists include fanmixes?

Perfect song for this creepy vid. I rewatched it alone at night and got major heebie jeebies.

Conversations by [livejournal.com profile] starkraves | SPN | Castiel & Lucifer | PG
S5 fic about five conversations he had with the Devil. She is an AMAZING writer and I agree with all her thoughts on Cas. Relatedly, her 5x13 coda has my favorite explication of the Castiel&Anna relationship of aaaall tiiiiime.

The Empty Vessel by [livejournal.com profile] ratherastory | SPN | Claire/Cas-ish, sort of. | R
CLAIRE/CASTIEL(-ISH) AND CROATVERSE AND EVERYTHING I WANT FROM THE TRAIN WRECK THAT IS CLAIRE AND CAS NAVIGATING THEIR RELATIONSHIP IN CAMP CHITAQUA OMG. This Novakfest fic might as well have been written for me. Unsurprisingly, it was written for Gabby.

Unmeasured Prelude by [livejournal.com profile] furius | SPN | Dean/Castiel | G
The shippiness doesn't really come in until the last couple of sentences, so it's mostly this wonderful and resonant contemplation of Dean and Castiel's relationship.

And now for something completely different! Gunkanjima ('battleship island') is an island off the coast of Nagasaki. Between 1887 and 1974, it was a thriving coal mining site, but as petroleum replaced coal in Japan in the 1960s, coal mines began shutting down all over the country. Gunkanjima closed in 1974 and reopened in 2009 for tourism.

So it's a ghost town, basically. Gunkanjima kind of reminds me of Kolmanskop, except with coal instead of diamonds. It also prone to REALLY AWESOME PICTURES. These are the kinds of places where I wanted Cas to look for God/Balthazar/Sam's soul, but idk, maybe you need a more visual medium than fic though. I mean, look at these. Imagine angels playing cat-and-mouse in the ruins, or Cas just wandering around looking regretful and pained.

Meme o'clock! Name a character from one of my fandoms and I'll give you:
a) a fact about them from my personal canon
b) a reason he/she sucks
c) a reason he/she is amazing
d) a thing that I'd like to see happen to them
e) someone that I can't ship that character with

I love your recs and will read them later at leisure.

I prompt you: Dean Winchester! (or even Dimas!)

:D I hope you will enjoy these too!

DEAN
a) He stalked Sam in Stanford if he was in the area. (This is more fanon than personal canon though, isn't it?) Once, he went into one of the big intro classes and sat at the back staring at Sam's head, wondering when his brother's gonna speak up and answer a question.
b) destructive Sam fixation
c) He built that EMF himself. I want to hear more about him Macgyvering himself out of situations.
d) He has to face more Hell PTSD or, barring that, things from Hell that remember and miss him.
e) I guess I'm not really feeling the Dean/Tessa.

Awesome!

I'm with you on (a) and (d). Since I'm not much of a shipper, (e) is pretty meh for me.

But pretty please for Dimas? I find that I miss the Wicaksono boys.
