Unpopular fandom opinions meme?! Woo!
1. Gaius's dubious morality, and his tendency towards action through inaction. I think his cowardice has layers. He wants to be a good person, but he wants to not be caught more than he wants to be a good person. 1x13 was him reaching for redemption.
2. Uther's arrogance, and the way he mistakes his selfishness for love of family and country. It's tough (and shitty) love. It's like he knows no other way. The only time I ever saw him humble himself was with Morgana at the end of 1x12.
3. The Dragon's smugness and cryptic ways. I love temporal disorientation as a trope, which the Dragon gets at with the whole destiny thing. Mostly I like the Dragon because I like writing/reading about pretentious people doing pretentious things.
4. Merlin/Gwen. The stepheaded redchild of the OT4 pairings. I know, I know, they're both so in love with their respective masters and whatever. But I still think believable Merlin/Gwen fic is possible. I HAVE FAITH.

Anyway. I've been reading some meta on how to remix a fic, and it seems people mean 'cover'. So I hope I'm not DOING IT WRONG, 'cos I think I'm actually remixing. I'm writing like the extended trance mix of a rock ballad? Or whatever? It's like I'm writing a fic of a fic.
Thing that is better than you: this Katie McGrath picspam. DEAR MS. MCGRATH, HOW ARE YOU POSSIBLE. The picspam led me to looking through pictures of Series 2 filming on a Katie McGrath fansite and omg Gwen can has new dress! Yaaayyyyy.
Not Exactly An Epistolary Romance is a post-2nd series Tony/Effy fic, R-rated, and hfdjshfksjd AWESOME. If I didn't already ship them (...surprise?), this fic would make me ship them the way this fic made me ship Peter/Susan. But luckily, I already know how awesome Tony/Effy is, so reading this fic was like exclamations of "YES EXACTLY!!" and "BEAUTIFUL!!" every five seconds. Soooooo, warning: incest. :D?
In conclusion, Will doesn't think much of Prince Zuko.
I'm out of town until like July 4 or something.

It's totally believable but there IS a PROBLEM with Gwen/Merlin in that they are similar types in many ways.
You end up with NICE + NICE = nice. They could have a realistically viable long-term relationship and be perfectly content with each other but it would be lack excitement. They're neither of them confrontational in nature so wouldn't have lows but neither would they have highs. It feels like SETTLING and it would take a lot to make it feel like it wasn't second-best. In a way it's too real.

And I stumbled across that Katie picspam the other day and JIZZED IN MY PANTS.
(Don't particularly care about Gwen's new dress, though. Or Gwen/Merlin. It's remarkable how unattached I am to Gwen. She could drop dead in the first episode of the new series, and I'd probably just shrug and go "meh." I find her incredibly uninteresting. I suppose that's an unpopular fandom opinion?)
Haha, I totally ship Tony/Effy, as well. Off to read that fic now.
