Honestly, I don't go on many websites besides my email, my school stuff, LJ, and online TV. I find a nook, I get very comfortable. I did recently discover Google Reader though, so that might change. Google Reader is like an RSS feed, but for EVERTHANG, so it's more convenient. So I guess that's my site recommendation. A couple of sites on my reader:
stuff white people do | No, not stuff white people like. This blog is more srs bsns discussion of various racefails. I'm :-\ and kind of -_-; at the blog title, but there is some good stuff on there. I'm especially moved by this post: adversely affect the identities of non-white people all over the world. I didn't read all the RaceFail posts, but I found many of them to discuss mostly racial politics in the USA, or at least white-majority countries. The power structure changes when you talk about racism in countries where the privilege and identity politics are shaped within a different historical and sociocultural context. This post doesn't cover all of that (the writer focuses on Australia), but some of the shit just rings so true. Like:
Cover Me | Music blog specializing in covers. I've mentioned this blog before, but it bears repeating because hooray covers.
And then there's World Bank President, which I only found because I was doing half-assed research on my Solstice fic. I mean, I'm not sure if I'm going to follow through with this plot bunny though, because I suspect the fic will just become this preachy Merlinization of my thesis and will contain more my diatribes on marine resource management in the Philippines than slashy snuggletiems. I'm just trying to hit two birds with one stone here.
Do you guys have website/blog recommendations for my reader? Perhaps some about the state of fisheries and aquaculture in Southeast Asia, specifically how they pertain to the region's food security?

I also had a racist encounter with a couple of people who kept pushing my buttons till I lost it, while they just kept smirking and didn't take me seriously. I wonder if it's a common white tendency to push a POC's buttons while staying calm themselves, so that in the end the POC is made to look emotional and over-reactive (and a little bit 'coo coo')? I suppose it's like trying to pick a fight, but getting the other person to punch first. Or perhaps it's the POC's fault for not being able to handle the situation wisely? Probably both, huh?And okay, "I wonder if it's a common white tendency" is a problematic phrase, but I have been in the writer's shoes and oh boy. That sucked a big one.
