For Yooltide, I wrote fic for a Sufjan Stevens song! WHO'D A THUNK? Good call, Sinope. "The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades is Out to Get Us!" That's the song, not the fic. Here's the fic!: The Reservoir. Rated PG, and 2686 words of what is basically original fiction, so I'm double-pleased because I was beginning to wonder if I would ever finish something non-fannish ever again. It's about a couple of best friends, and the reservoir where they fall in love hang out sometimes.

I also wrote an NYR thing in the key of Merlin RPF. Bradley/Angel, because sometimes I spend too much time hearteyesing at Made Of Gold and just need an excuse.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE! <3

got to get you into my life
Merlin RPF. Bradley/Angel, Katie, Colin, Anthony. Rated... R? PG13? 1268 words.
The king and queen of Camelot, off duty.

Brave Blooms | The Secret Garden | Dickon/Mary/Colin-ish | G
Sweet. Winter comes to Misselthwaite, bringing changes and choices.

Or Becomes It | Mike Carey's 'Lucifer' | Lucifer(/Mazikeen) | PG
Beautiful. Post-canon, endings after endings.

Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect Kanye West | Hiphop RPF | Lupe Fiasco/Kanye West | PG13
Sexy. Lupe and Kanye play board games.

Non-Yuletide: must-see tv | It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia/The Office | Charlie & Michael | PG13
NEW PERSONAL CANON: 'The Office' is a real reality show and the gang totally watches it. And of course Charlie would try to get on it when he finds out that Michael Scott is his cousin.

Dreamwidth roundup

In the End - Scooby Doo. PG13. Character deaths. 94 words. Velma knew this day would come. Inspired by this picture from zom-bot.com.

Morning After - Merlin. Futurefic, Arthur/Gwen/Lancelot fluff. PG13. 364 words.

all my 3-sentence fics - Multifandom. Now with the following snippet about Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet, which I forgot to include in previous posts:
Sinter/Piet, "Hey, Nick, have you ever thought of having wolves pull our sleigh?"

"Ah, my little Moor," Nicholas chortles in his booming voice, "this is why I enjoy your company so: you never cease to make me laugh."

Piet replies quietly, "I do not wish to make you laugh."

"Quite right," says Nicholas, "for making people laugh ought to be my business, isn't that right?"

Piet sighs and looks out at the snowy landscape which is nothing like the home he once knew, but now the only home knows. The love of his master is great and engulfing, and it is the only love he has.

I rewatched Prince Caspian with a friend who has never seen it before, and she was like, "Caspian should stop looking back all the time." Word.

Since I am literally on the other side of the world from my family, I am spending the holiday with the boy's. One of the show-stoppers of the Christmas party was his uncle giving his other uncle Weener Kleener Soap. You could hear the record scratch to a halt and everyone went "WHAAA?" and gathered round to take a gander at it, competing to see who could make the dirtiest joke. Then (unrelatedly) I talked with his grandmother about breakdancing. These people <3333

Yuletide-wise, there are so many interesting fandoms that I'm overwhelmed. Hiphop RPF? YES PLS. The old Scooby Doo cartoons?? FUTURAMA AND SECRET GARDEN?? omggggg. OMG IT'S ALWAYS FUCKING SUNNY IN MOTHERFUCKING PHILADELPHIA!!!! \o/

Under the cut are my Dreamwidth updates in Narnia RPF, Narnia, Merlin, and the Where The Wild Things Are movie. There are also 3 Yuletide recs in The Tudors, Oregon Trail, and The Sound of Music.

It's been a while since I posted about Donald Duck so I'm going to rectify that. Is THIS the most amazing Disney comic cover art ever, or is it this? Probably the latter, because holy fucking shit HanSolo!Donald omg <33. Where can I get that in English?

Still behind on comments, still behind on writing, but for now: Yuletide letter time!

Dear Santa, I want a pony. )

OH MY HOLY FUCKING CRAP MY LAPTOP IS BACK

It is baaaaaaaaack. After a protracted period of warranty repairs, exacerbated by my apparent inability to deal with billing problems in a timely manner, my terrible snookums is back. I'm still probably going to continue to be kind of scarce around here, on account of OMGWTFJOBSEARCH and theeeeesiiiiiis. In fact, gratuitous to-do list time! )

And okay, I watched the last two Merlins and my thoughts are simple. )

I keep thinking I want to read or write fic for Ocean Girl, but of what? Because it's a closed canon with this grand mytharc or whatever, I wanna wait until I finish watching it before I start fiddling around. Here are some Ocean Girl bunnies anyway. )

I'm wondering now if I ought to reapply for Yuletide with Ocean Girl. Speaking of Yuletide blips, the Jonny Quest and The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest both have Jessie Bannon on their characters list when she only appears in the latter. I'm only signed up for the former. Is it worth it going back and signing up for both? How much do I want Jonny/Jessie/Hadji OT3 action?

Watched the V pilot. It looks promising, or maybe I just have a huge crush on Juliet Elizabeth Mitchell.

I also have to finish up the '7 days of joy' meme that I started like 2 months ago. The last category is 'whatever tickles your fancy'. Whatever tickles my fancy right now happens to be my favorite things from my 'My Pictures' folder.

1. In Typhoon Ondoy/Ketsana disaster relief news, [livejournal.com profile] litlover12 is organizing a drive to resupply public schools in the Philippines with classic books hereabouts. If you got any spare change lying around, kids!

2. you are here: the journal of creative geography is accepting submissions! "Geographical imagination is a specific term, but has diverse meanings within geography and related fields. The concept has been used to describe the similarities and differences of individual or collective perceptions of space and place. We encourage submissions that engage this concept along with its limits and possibilities. Submissions should consider the utopian, fantastical, cultural, political, aesthetic, visionary, or other dimensions of this concept. We ask you to invent, define, unravel, or creatively explore imaginary spaces and spatial imaginaries." Submission deadline: January 10, 2010.

3. I saw this on 'Robot Chicken' last night and it totally cracked my shit up: Six Mix-a-lot comes to Camelot to educate some people about optimal table shapes.

4. omg Yuletide sign-ups! Can any of you be enticed to write fic for Jonny Quest, Captain Planet, The Johnny Maxwell Trilogy, or classic Disney cartoons? I hope so! (Think it's okay that I picked Jonny Quest instead of JQTRA? 'Cos I mean the character list still has Jessie on it...)

5. I'm still working on the writing prompts from the stories and identity post, so those are coming soon-ish. I also have to spruce up the knightfic I wrote for the Fleet party two parties ago. In the meantime, in honor of the World Series, here is Unnecessary 'Merlin' AU #748392: Arthur Pendragon is the starting pitcher for the Camelot Knights. Their long-term rivals are the Albion Wizards. Perhaps the World Series are on the horizon? They have a Round Stadium! I'm actually not sure what else it would involve outside of baseball signals and superstition, Knights Nation, and Arthur brooding prettily on the pitcher's mound. It... it could happen?

Did I have more to say than this? Possibly. But too bad!

I can't believe people nominated the following fandoms and I am so very pleased they did!

Jostein Gaarder – Sophie's World | AAAAAAAHH THIS BOOK WAS MY FAVORITE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL. For a time, I wrote all my short stories to have the same ending as this book. My best friend at the time gave me my own copy for my birthday so I would finally give her her copy back. I was rereading it recently actually, and meh, it gets pretty didactic, but my thirteen-year-old self loved it. The Solitaire Mystery is a better-written book, but Sophie's World holds a special place in my heart. I'm gonna volunteer to write for this definitely.

The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades is Out to Get Us! (song) | Are you kidding meeeeeee. ARE YOU KIDDING MEEEE?!?!?! SOMEONE REQUESTED FIC FOR A SUFJAN SONG. BLOW MY MIND, YULETIDE. omg. Yeah, go on and request the song I associate with a Merlin/Will American suburbs AU, just go on and do that. Def volunteering for this too. Thinly veiled 'Merlin' fic, here you come?! (SUFJAN IS ALWAYS RELEVANT.)

RPF - A Shot of Love with Tila Tequila | Don't be hating! Actually, hate it if you want, the show deserves it. But why hate when you can lol?! OH HOW WE LOLED. How does one write fic for a reality show? Do you pretend the production crew and the cameras aren't around?

The Magic School Bus (tv) | lol, I'm probably not going to write for this, but omg I would be all over the reading of it. The secret life of Ms. Frizzle? The secret life of LIZ?! The kids all grown up? When I was wee, I wrote Magic School Bus fic about the kids as high school teens and there was angst all over the place. Other fandoms I <33 but am not writing for include Ghostwriter and The Adventures of Pete & Pete.

...and Ocean Girl! | I haven't thought about this show in FOREVEREVER, and then I saw it on the list and now I'm mainlining the episodes. Neriiiiii, how so awesome? This is, um... another show I wrote a fic for when I was a kid. Also, the ORCA kids had really weird hair, what's up with that. Also, the commander is a hotass.

a list of other awesome fandoms )

Also, this thing:

day 01 | a song
day 02 | a picture
day 03 | a book/ebook/fanfic
day 04 | a site
day 05 | a youtube clip

day 06 | a quote
day 07 | whatever tickles your fancy

"With a group of friends, [Barry] Humpries used to go to a shop every day at the same time and pay for a bar of Lux soap but never take the soap away. They would sometimes get strangers to do the same thing. Each time the shop-keeper would say, "You've forgotten your soap," to which Humphries and company would respond, "We don't want the soap, we just want to buy it!" Eventually Humphries took the soap out of the shop but returned, saying, "I'm sorry, I forgot to leave the soap." The shopkeeper eventually moved to another part of town."
