Christmas Past
Narnia. Susan, Edmund (Jadis). Rated G. 323 words.
Golden Age fic. It's Christmas, and Edmund and Susan are up early as usual.

He always call her Jadis, never the Witch, as if recalling an old lover. )

I did the "things I'll never write" meme a few weeks ago, though it was just an excuse to request the strangest prompts people can think of, because as history shows, I'll write anything. So, I wrote Peter&Jadis near the end of the Golden Age for [livejournal.com profile] bedlamsbard (Bed, I may still actually owe you fic, since this isn't technically Peter/Jadis), and Ororo between X2 and X3 for [livejournal.com profile] dirty_diana.

Then everyone else gave Narnia crossover prompts, so I've compiled those all here in a section subtitled 'people they never loved'.

Another Shore

- for [livejournal.com profile] marycontraire, who said Edmund/Effy (Narnia/Skins)
Neither Edmund nor Effy are surprised that their older brothers don't get along. )

- for [livejournal.com profile] animus_wyrmis, who said Edmund/Hermione (Narnia/Harry Potter)
2 people who objected to Edmund and Hermione's relationship )

- still for [livejournal.com profile] animus_wyrmis, who also said Edmund/Luna (Narnia/Harry Potter)
She's safe, that much is sure, but he isn't sure how she's safe: whether it's because she would believe him, or because no one would believe her. )

- for [livejournal.com profile] be_themoon, who said Nimueh/Jadis (Narnia/Merlin). With visual aid!
Nimueh whispers an incantation and the cut on her palm closes itself. )

ETA: FUCK IT. Here are two codes to start a Dreamwidth account: DRQKSWTQPJHVZAAACZU9 and QFTXMA3ZGR9NJAAACZVA. I cast them to the wind and wash my hands of them!
whynot: etc: oh deer (winter of our discontent)
Written for Bedlam, originally posted here. She requested 'Peter/Jadis', but this is only Peter&Jadis, alas. 274 words.

You are in no position to bargain, witch. )

Homework sucks. Time for meme.

The '10 words per genre' meme that's been going around. It's all 'Merlin', guest-starring Jadis. )

In other news, AAAAAAAAAAAHHH I HAVE TRAIL OF DEAD TICKETS AAAAAAAAAAAHHH I HAVE TRAIL OF DEAD TICKETS AAAAAAAAAAAHHH I HAVE TRAIL OF DEAD TICKETS hfksahfkdshfd ZOMG. I've never seen them live before! It's gonna be awesome, and possibly harmful to my health considering how the Manu Chao 'mosh pit' nearly did me in. Maybe I will upload their music for you later.

I was slightly disappointed to find that Dining With Terrorists does not actually have Phil Rees going, "It is the peppers and coca leaves that give the FARC's gruel that special kick." It did make me think of all you guys on my flist writing fics about LA REVOLUCION. So basically [livejournal.com profile] zempasuchil ("THE JUNGLE IS THE IDEAL SETTING FOR REBELLION.") and [livejournal.com profile] bedlamsbard.

Also, WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME THE GUY FROM ASIAN DUB FOUNDATION IS HOSTING THE MUSIC OF RESISTANCE PROGRAM ON AL-JAZEERA. OMG. Possibly to stop my head exploding from awesome?? OMG THE FIRST EPISODE IS ACTUALLY ABOUT THEM (and the BNP and racism in London). omg. you guuuuuuuuyyyyysssss, i almost can't handle it. KEEP BANGING ON THE WALLS OF FORTRESS EUROPE.

I haven't done recs since I got a delicious, but I want to bring attention to these Merlin fics. And one Bible fic. )

I will leave you with this.

I've always wanted to do a fic commentary, and and sometimes you hear the silence speak is kind of perfect for it because the length and subject matter lets me talk about a lot of things e.g. stray plot bunnies, sekrit authorial confessions, a reinterpretation of the role of Judas, the names of winds and sandstorms, book recommendations, etc.

The fic is technically gen, but the commentary is kind of not. It's posted in two parts due to space constraints, because sometimes I just don't shut up.

DVD commentary: 'and sometimes you hear the silence speak' 1/2 )
Part 2 of DVD commentary

Longest fic I have written ahoy! I have been writing this SINCE THE SUMMER, and it has been informed by a variety of things along the way, including but not limited to 1001 Arabian Nights, Philip Pullman, the big bang, the Eucharist, my sociology class, and my love-hate relationship with economics.

Thank you, Pen, for fielding the initial drabbles and doing thumbs-up. Thank you, Bedlam, for fielding the later drabbles and doing thumbs-up, and also for betareading.

HERE GOES. (Eeeeeee!)

and sometimes you hear the silence speak
Narnia. Edmund, Susan, Jadis. There are shades of Pevencest and Edmund/Jadis here and there, though it is 'technically gen'. PG13.
Edmund and Susan go to Calormen to collect magic. "We are doing this for Narnia, sister, and nothing else."
ETA: The DVD commentary for this fic is here. Some missing scenes are here.

In the language of the desert tribes, the word for ‘magic’ is the same word for ‘wind’. )

I have no time for Yuletide. This is something I have to keep on telling myself whenever I see that people are offering to write fic for:
A) Burnett's The Secret Garden. Colin/Mary/Dickon of my heart! I have at the moment (and for a couple of months) eight sentences of Secret Garden OT3 fic, but who the hell knows if anything will ever come of it.
& B) MONTY PYTHON RPF. HOLY SHIT. WRITE IT, SOMEONE, DO IT, OMG. Graham Chapman being an alcoholic douche! Eric Idle being sidelined during writing sessions! How horriblewonderful it was to film The Holy Grail! And maybe there is making out?!

All Good Naysayers
Narnia. Edmund (sort of), Jadis? (sort of?). Rated PG. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] animus_wyrmis and [livejournal.com profile] bedlamsbard for the beta.
You can kill the magician but you can't kill magic.

Narnia! It's okay if I pretend it's about the bacchanalia.

Sufjan Stevens! It's okay if I pretend it's about Narnia. I actually love Sufjan Stevens. But he is totally singing about Narnia, if only because he is singing about Jesus. Class, raise your hands if you love Sufjan.

I have a playlist called 'foraslaaaan' (not related to the community) of songs I like to listen to when I fic. I will put this music up for ya'll someday. 'Clothes of Sand' by Nick Drake is totally Aslan's song for Susan, and I like listening to Massive Attack when mulling over Edmund. Edmund: what is it about him that recalls creepy trip-hop? I dunno, but I like it.

The LWW soundtrack is totes better than the PC soundtrack. LWW's music is pretty (omg 'Evacuating London'), but PC's music is jarring and doom-ish and kind of a mood-killer. Well, considering the movies, this isn't surprising. Also, 'Wunderkind' > 'The Call'.

Speaking of Narnia.

in-between seasons. Again for the kink meme. [livejournal.com profile] liminalliz's prompt: Edmund/Jadis. pg13.
He knows that, here, shadows are more than an absence of light, and signs are meant to be followed. )
